o7 all,

i managed to get EvE running thanks to the work of CCP Snorlax. Great work!

Now i wonder if anyone else also has the issue that the GPU fans are going crazy, or found a way to fix it - control the fand

At similar temperature of the GPU the fans have been quiet with Windows 7, but now it sounds after 5 minutes of gameplay that a jet fighter is about to take off. Ugh

I use the latest offered proprietary drivers offered by ubuntu from nvidia (version 367 iirc).

In the "Display & Graphics" tab of the settings, in the leftmost column ("Display") try and set the "Present Interval" preference to "Interval one", so to limit the framerate - and thus the power drain on the gfx.

My bad...

I opened the case and found out it is the stupid CPU fan that was making the noise. So i tried playing around with lm-sensors and fancontrol but ended up changing the bios settings to calm down the cpu fan.

fancontrol always reported an error that the modules not have been loaded or the configuration file is outdated. I gave up after an hour. In the bios the fan control was set to "full on" and i changed it to a target temp and speed, so unless that cpu temp is reached the system is quiet now.

Btw - the "interval one" setting i already had set in the EvE client - that seems to be the default setting. When i change that to interval immediately then the fps goes to like 90 but the CPU and GPU fan go crazy immediately aswell. :)
