The first post was fine. It didnt warrant any of the insults. The other posts were just replies to those insults

I do not have, and will never have a facebook account. I shouldn't have to sign a contract with facebook, giving them rights to my whole life, just to keep up with eveonline news.

Please post it elsewhere.

grow up kid this is 2017 and not 1990. You are using the internet there is no privacy or you accept it or you will lose the war. Just make damn fake account on with vpn on. Nuff said. Social media is the new way of life adept or die.

Do i agree with you yeah but i know my losses.

Only internet illiterates think there is no privacy on the internet. It's actually pretty easy to get privacy on the internet. A few people here have even gone over how. It's actually pretty easy to get privacy on Facebook too.

1984 was a book.

Facebook collects personal data but so does any website. Google tracks every search you make to advertise to you, they are all at it. Targeted adverts have been a thing for a long time now. Who knows what else they do with the data, it likely sits on some dusty server doing not a lot.

I get the view that companies should keep out of your private life, but boycotting then on your own is useless. The fact that Facebook has grown to the size it is, despite your boycott, shows that most people are content. You are stuck in a reality tunnel where companies and the govt are out to track your every move so they can crush opposition, only that doesn't happen or all the conspiracy folk would magically disappear...

This post brought to you by CCP's alpha forum alt initiative. Playing the eve forums has never come cheaper.

Regardless of your stance on facebook or other sites and forums, it is in my opinon very bad practice to have information about your game dotted all over the internet first, before having it on your actual website.

What is so hard about having the main pool of information and videos on eveonline.com? If you cant host videos then you have your youtube account that I would assume would be your next port of call after the eve online forums / website.

More than anything else , like someone else said - Fackbook links really? In 2017?

Did you even bother to read the thread at all?

In particular, did you read this post which explains why they did it this way in this instance:

Facebook live gives us a fast, easy and direct way to share content. If you don't like it, then don't use it.

However, the vast majority of our players are fine with watching a video on one of the world's most popular social media sites, so we'll continue to host content there.

At some point we'll probably add these videos to our YouTube channel, but there's no guarantee on when.

I didnt realise CCP had started to opt for the nonchalant attitude towards their players concerns. I for one would appreciate you guys uploading things to youtube as its a lot more user friendly.

Does that sound like a professional company to you? Should they not have said something like - "We will endavour to upload all content to youtube asap" .

Its really not hard to upload a video to youtube. I understand the live aspects of facebook but this is such a small simple thing that would make people happy.......CCP cant accomodate?

P.S

I do feel like im blowing this out of proportion now, possibly this whole thread is to be quite honest but I do understand some peoples concerns.

It's pretty simple economics for CCP to have their videos on Facebook, since the only people who dont have a Facebook are tinfoil hatters, who don't realise companies have their details already.

However if I was the marketing team, I would not be content having these videos, which are advertisements, in only one place. I would want to push the video to as many potential customers as possible, using as many big platforms as is practicable.

then the software engineers and developers should know that its not only facebook who collect data but literally every company on the planet, if you have such an issue with privacy then just go ahead and remove any internet connected device from your life, then move to a mountain shack away from any living life so nobody can invade your privacy

There are plenty of companies that respect your privacy and with a little work the digital footprint we leave behind can be reduced massively.
The tools are there, it's just that people choose not to give a ****, as has happened so many times before and then we end up with police states, censorships, dicatorships and all kinds of other gruesome stuff that nobody wants but didn't do anything to prevent it either.

We are heading straight for global mass surveillance and total authority and apparently nobody but a very few give a **** about it. Let's see what you all think when that future is here in all its glory and if you then continue to not care, or wish you had actually done something against it before it was too late.

When you don't know the difference between there, their, and they're, you come across as being so uneducated that your viewpoint can be safely dismissed. The literate is unlikely to learn much from the illiterate.

It is interesting that those who seem to have either no regard for their privacy, or who have given up with even trying to keep some semblance of it, get to call others who do "stupid" and "idiots".

Yes, we know, the internet has become a cesspool full of people who for whatever reason demand to know more about us than our own family.

In the early days they needed to pay people to astroturf just about everywhere to persuade us we were somehow "strange" for not embracing Big Brother, but it seems that they were so persuasive that people are now willing to do that job for them for free, ah well, you can't cure either gullible, naive or stupid.

So sorry to those, we know all this, and we will no more invite Facebook into our lives, than invite a rabid racoon, that we witness biting our neighbours, into our home, on the off chance it might suddenly become friendly. The best case scenario is it will only crap on the carpet.

Maybe CCP marketing and CCP falcon will realise that we will not "suck it up" and they are getting a reaction that is, shall we say, suboptimal from a customer relations point of view.

i didn't call anyone stupid or idiots, i really couldn't care, im perfectly aware of the world around and if some company finds my "vinyl toy" or "how to beat a rogue in the division" internet searches interesting then good on them or if they want to give my details to some car insurance company so i get an email when my renewal is due then gg saves me having to search around for deals.

google harvests information from you also, if you use an android device then you are giving them your data because you are made to sign up to googles various social media, guess who also owns youtube?

it amazes me everyone singles out facebook for privacy yet ignore every other company who also do it

And I clicked F.U. button instead. Sorry, I'm not going to read any popup in the internet.
On youtube, on the other hand, I open the link and it works. The later is convenient, the former is not.
No hatred, no tinfoilry. Just when Steve tells it was all round convenient - nope, wasnt for me.
