I want my role eventually to be a support player as a healer....LOTS of XP at that from WoW and was a decent healer there, it suits my play style and personality.

SO my question is what is the best path to achieving that goal.

Thanks for any help.

Just don't be disappointed, if it doesn't feel like in WoW. Having been a dedicated priest in WoW for five years, I found it took a little getting used to EVE mechanics.

I would add the suggestion that you do all aspects of PVP, simply because it helps you understand where your reps (i.e. "heals") are most effective. This is ESPECIALLY true in Eve because you don't "see" your heals so much as hear or react to notifications. Learning the PVP aspects also helps you understand combat tactics that you need to react to quickly, and be prepared for. For example, your healing options are different if you are flying in a passive armor fleet versus and active armor fleet, which will be different from an active shield fleet, which will be different than a passive shield fleet.

Well you would be surprised at the number of "old" gamers here. EVE is the home of geriatric gamers.

I don't think getting out of a WoW mentality will be that hard, because been over year since I played anyway! And I am fairly decent at picking up the concepts of games...NOW whether I execute those concepts accurately and effectively is another story (just look at my World of Tanks stats) LOL

first up, welcome to EVE. Logibros are highly valued by corps so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding people who want you to fly with them.

A solid logibro will be able to fly a Shield and an Armour logistics frigate and cruiser. In the frigate line, the Deacon and Scalpel are the preferred hulls. In the cruiser line, you'll eventually want the Guardian (Amarr, armour) and Basilisk (Caldari, shield). The Oneiros and Scimitar are also handy to have access too, but most Logi pilots prefer the cap chaining hulls especially when there's more than one logi pilot.

Choose which ones to train first depending on your corp's requirements. There's no point being a Guardian pilot if your corp flies mostly Shield ships.

You're going to want solid Engineering skills along with both armour and shield tanks. The Logistics Cruiser skill is one of those nasty ones that really requires training to V. Logi V pilots get a little antsy having Logi IV bros in the cap chain.

Good luck, have fun. Don't forget to bring a drone along to get yourself on killmails.

You'll be loved as a logi. But you need a fleet, so obviously your first step is finding people to fly with.

Almost any PvP-centric group will happily have you even while you are training towards the T2 cruisers. In many cases you will profit from ship loss under an SRP as well. All the usual suspects apply here-- big sov null coalitions, FW, RvB, Eve-Uni and pretty much anyone else that likes to pew pew.

I suggest getting some practice doing PvE (virtually zero risk) while you get used to fleet functions like the broadcast system, work on your positioning on grid, etc. There isn't really any PvE designed to teach you these fleet roles, and often the first time people get to do something like logi is when it's high stakes PvP. Running some easy PvE to get a feel for things will save you lost ships later.

Logi is a cap-intensive hobby, so be sure to train up core skills. Solid tanking skills are a must too as logi usually come under fire at some point in a battle. You're no good to anyone if you get blapped off the field. Likewise Navigation skills come into play as you need to react and keep the fleet core in rep range- a difficult proposition with MWD frigates zipping around, a little easier in a battleship fleet.

Once you are a full on logi-bro, you are also well positioned to try out other snowflake fleet roles, such as EWAR or advanced tackle.

Here, this might be something that helps you a bit :

Logistics 101

Logistics 102

Both made by Xaero Petraeus, and while they are a bit dated they still should work relatively well.
But for a whole understanding, you should refer to the Uni page and have some time figuring out all that information (it is really a lot to take in, as usual by Eve!)

A word of warning:

don't aim to train straight into those ships, just as with a full healer they only work when there's a group and when the group is ready, formed and starting. Outside those specific times a full healer can't do a thing on his own and you'll get bored because you lack other options.

So do train up combat related things, or other play styles you might enjoy, and once you have found something you like doing and makes you some isk then focus on the logis.

That stupid corp didn't deserve you anyway.

OP: I would train the core skills, all T1 cruisers to IV, train shild and amor tank to T2, all 4 medium weapon systems to IV and into small and medium T2 drones. Use a gila for ratting if needed. Then you can step up to the T2 Logi cruisers as needed. The players you join will tell you what doctrines they use and what T2 Logis would fit.

I'd suggest Eve University. You'll get skillbooks, lots of tips and advice and ships.
Oh, and content.
