EVE Lore, Concord and the Burn Jita Event

This has been an annual thing for a while now and I got to thinking about how it fits into the lore of EVE. A large coalition rolls in to the core of the four empires' trade network and unleashes with wanton destruction. Sure Concord replies to each act of aggression, but it seems odd that there isn't something more comprehensive. It seems something this consistent and destructive would draw sufficient attention from many directions within all the empires to demand a response of its own.

As a player the whole thing only impacts me in the most indirect way (losec sort for the most part), but it does leave me wondering about that lore gap, as it were.

Good hunting,

Xavi

Just reduce buy prices so the muppets have incentive but the sponsorship still profit.

Often times, Capsuleer troubles are not human troubles. Quite honestly I think that's how it fits into the lore. I'm sure that regular folks keep up on what the demigods are up to - especially with headlines like the "Winter War' or when there's battles involving 40,000 Capsuleers.

If you asked the Angel Cartel, they'd tell you it's just plain old Egger on Egger violence. Smile Leave it to CONCORD to sort it out.

It doesn´t. Same as many other things. That being said - it doesn´t mean it´s a bad thing.

And nobody ever visited Jita again. The end.

Ganking is ganking

CCP could unleash the might of CONCORD but wouldn't that end in whining of those that got pwned by it

I think it fits into the lore of our hyper-capitalistic dystopia just fine. :)

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com

This is Burn Jita 4 Kids. The Caldari would look like child-murdering monsters if they tried to prevent it from happening. It's charity after all. ;)

Seriously, though. The empires are loosing control to the capsuleers. I think even one of the trailers said so. So my take is that there's simply f\\k all they can do about it.

I would love to see Goons or PL or any other Nullsec blob engage in a Sov War with the Caldari State. Those puny NPCs would get steamrolled in no time.

Wasnt the last burn Jita in like 2012? Havent seen one in ages.

On the other hand, i visit Jita once every 2 months, so i dont really know whats going on there.

There was burn jita 2012, 13, 14, as well as burn amarr and burn (out) warr akini in 2015. I don't think 2016 had one, but I would make a guess and say that's because miniluv needed to get used to not having warr akini around to organize things.

Now imagine the drama if Concord would take a day off when the next "burn jita" happens.
Even if the log in screen would say "Today is "burn jita - there will be no CONCORD response in the system" ships would still explode in hundreds.

You should rename it "blow slightly tepid air on Jita!" though "blow hot air on Jita" might be a better way to put it...

I guess it is one way for the Goons to keep their efficiency rating up along with ganking freighters, last time I worked it back they were at 40.4% if you took all the freighters out.... Elite PvP and being bad at Eve and all that... Shocked

When the going gets tough the Gankers get their CSM rep to change mechanics in their favour.

Well... They still own stations Blink
Closing doors for eggers would be pretty bold step.

If i'm not mistaken in one of story empire factions could close gates too. Just imagine what will happen in high-sec if they even start to do something.

CCP Devs, GMs, employees etc should have a all hands on deck and all login "as concord" and have a nice free for all out war. Give the burn jita some good fun and content!

Imagine a Concord played by real people and coordinated on coms. :-)

Become the defender of Jita! Gather a militia of empire citizens to act in concert with Concord and empire navies, and defend your space.

The lore is there to support that narrative and the mechanics exist. Everything's working as intended. What exactly is your point?

It would be really funny if Goons could make the caldari navy close Jita 4-4 for eggers.

Anyway, since we are talking possibilities. If the empire factions were to limit capsuleer access to their stations, it would potentially mean war. Lore-Wise there is no reason why a capsuleer corporation would not be allowed to declare war on what we know as NPC corps and blow up their stations. We know their navies aren't that strong compared to the power of the nullsec blobs.

We just can't do it, because game mechanics. In the same sense, the NPC stations will not get blocked for capsuleers, because game mechanics as well.

pointless comments and arguments.

If something like this happened, then it would be literally game over Straight

So ccp would never allow it.

A 'the Purge' kind of event would be funny though, 1 day out of the year, Concord has its company picnic and lets everyone fend for themselves for 24h. Lol

That's exactly what happened when they turned Luminaire into a lowsec system for the DUST 514 live event where the Caldy Titan went down.

Was much fun, wish they would do it again.
