Bumping should be considered aggression by the game.!

Or at least the bumping repetition should be considered aggression.

Another thing.:
- Small Ships should receive high damage when they hit a Large Ship in high speed.

It would be very helpful in the cases of Gate Freighter Ganking

Would make it a little more realistic

Is it possible to implement it only when jumping from Gates

Yes, I am sure the people bumping would love both those suggestions. Two new, legal tools to avoid CONCORD when you explode another player in highsec.

I know, why don't we implement a bumping timer, say 3 minutes, by which your ship automatically enters warp regardless of your alignment or speed? That way, ships can't be held indefinitely by another player bumping them.

CCP should really look into that.

How are you going to parse out who gets the suspect timer? If 8 people undock and get caught in a jumble does somebody get kill rights activated on them? What about the changes to bumping they've already made?

1: Your idea is stale, it's been brought up multiple times in the past.
2: Why?
3: And how should CCP go about implementing such a thing?

Conservation of energy, conservation of momentum, kinetic energy and thermal energy would like a word with you about how they will be used for nefarious purposes if this ever came to pass.

A projectile massing around 1500 tonnes with a velocity of mach 7-8, (frigate with a MWD) is going to make a hell of a mess of whatever it hits, regardless of whether it itself explodes or not; gankers would use your high damage idea incurred in bumping to gank people without needing to fit guns at all Roll

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Yep. Stale idea to reduce your downside for being imprudent. No.

If you want to look into changing bumping/aggression mechanics I had a thread on this, but none of the people who complain about bumping and ganking wanted to discuss it.

Edit: And how much ISK did you lose when you were ganked?

So you undock and war targets are right at your station undock. They are parked with 0 velocity. Your ejection from the station will cause you to bump them, giving you an aggression timer. They Can now easily kill you since you can't dock for a minute.

The problem with this idea (apart from what others are saying) is that you are not thinking how it can be exploited against you. Sure it sounds all well and good if you are being bumped to prevent you from warping away from a station or gate. However, it could also be used on you.

Another scenario... All CODE would have to do to intersect Jita is park a bunch of freighters around each out gate. You would bump those as you land from warp, causing an aggression timer. Now you can't jump. If positioned correctly, you may never be able to get close enough to jump without bumping.

So learn a lesson from this. Before you suggest an idea, think long and hard about ways that very idea can be used against you. It may turn out that they change would be worse than the current fix.

Why not just have a mod that makes a ship immune from bumping while still having the other ship bounce off (call it a "repulser field"). Make them expensive to fit (in terms of PG/CPU) so that there is a trade off for freighters and only larger ships can fit them.. Maybe have them with a penalty to hull hp as well.

I'm not against bumping... but it seems like there should be some sort of counter to a hi-sec bumper without getting concorded.

Maybe make freighters immune to bumping unless a "tug boat" module is installed on the bumping ship... which puts a suspect timer on you when activated.

I'm just throwing stuff out there. Not sure if it makes sense.

I believe it would not be so difficult for CCP to implement something similar to "Bumping = Aggression".

You already have a period of invulnerability when you undock from stations.
And most of the time you just pass through other ships when undocking from stations

To bumping gank >> you select a ship and press approach...
"If you didn't select a ship and didn't press approach the game should not make you bump other ships".

Would it be too difficult to implement something like this?

Considering they'd have to rework the physics engine, probably.
