So out of boredom with ratting I've decided to start running combat sites in low sec for some isk. Thus far I've been using Ishtars and I think I may be over tanking them a bit resulting in ships that are more expensive than I think they need to be for the job at hand, especially considering how likely I am to end up getting ambushed. Risk v Reward and all that. What kind of DPS tank should I be aiming for to get through 6/10's with little trouble?

(Anything but blood raider sites... stumbled into a minor blood annex on one of my first attemps. F that.)

Blood minor annex is nasty. So is the serpentis 6/10 -- just stay away. Blood 6/10 is actually fine.

Otherwise, you should be fine with ~300 rat specific overheated in a 6/10. They just don't hit nearly as hard as 5/10s.

You're saying the 5/10 rats hit harder than the 6/10 thats supposed to be harder?

I am. Except for Serpentis, 5/10s hit harder than 6/10s. 6/10s require more damage to break the overseers in general.

Its not so much that 5/10 hit hard, its that in the last room they can hit you (3 web towers).

Most of the tank a cruiser has is in its speed. If you are going to use a face tanking BS for example you need about 600-700 tank for the same site.

Annex's are similar. Most have 4 web drones (800ish tank required, blood has nuets for more pain) but once the webs are off its fine.

The Serpentis 6/10 is a real SOB, finished 1 once, never again. It has all the bad things. Crazy powerful Nuet Tower, Webs, scrams , Damps and top that with several rooms split over two sites (1 in Null) and a final room that seems to have almost endless wave after wave.

Immediate intent is to do Guristas up to 6/10. From what I can tell these seem quite easy. Few webs, no neuts, some occasional ecm but not really an issue.

Thanks for the feedback btw.

The issue with Gurista is PVP. Whole place seems infested with people seeking your demise.

Sites are easy mode. PVP buffer gila can handle the 6/10 with no issues.

Hello Daemun,

I ran them with an Ishtar for quite a while. Lost a couple here and there because you have to be pretty mobile and things happen.

Coming back to game I noticed they removed one of their low slots, already struggled with it so that's out. Tried a few ships and settled on the Gila. You can fit a pretty big tank on it, get over 700 dps. Lot of people fly Tengu's on these. I don't, risk vs investment. Gila, 200M and some change your off to the races with a pretty nice tank for that last room. I run 3 hardeners and 2 extenders with extender rigs. I find Blood Raiders the hardest and what I’m currently running. Just have to be careful with the Neuts or your dead in a hurry. But with all sites you can take out any webbing tower while aligned on the move, just in case for insta warp. DED 6/10 down there is pretty straight forward. Some of the DED 5/10 requires a warp out after you down the towers, from there you just MWD out drop a can and orbit and dps everything down.

Fit (from memory)
Highs Light Assault Missile Launchers
Mids: 2 Site Specific hardeners’ and an invul field, 2 large extenders
Lows: Drone Damage Amps
Rigs: Field Extenders
Medium drones, site specific

Last time I ran Grista It was like 2008, Angel sites I find the easiest, can’t remember the last Serp site I did, Blood raiders, mean as hell, but doable, just painful compared. Have lost a Gila to Blood Raiders. the 6/10 tho are easier than the 5/10 when using the Gila. 5/10 can be done but if you don't have something to align to in the other direction, your forced to endure lots of warping and pain. Lost mine because rather than warp I pushed it too far waiting on drone travel time. Having to go through all those gates made me stay longer then I should have. Don't be greedy like I was! Big smile
