Gunnery.
Rapid Firing.
Motion Prediction.
Trajectory Analysis.
Sharpshooting.

Shooting things will make you money at a faster rate than mining.

If you actually want to mine...

Don't train Mining Frigate past III, or Mining Upgrades past IV. Train every level of the following in order of shortest training time:

Mining.
Astrogeology.
Mining Barge.

Better ISK with fewer skills: Go for Wormhole gas. Either by day tripping or by joining a WH corp. One Venture full of the quite common C50 gas is 20 Million ISK and there are rare gases that give double or triple of that amount. I only trained the Venture to IV and Gas Harvesters to V for the T2 variant. Now I have a lot of time and ISK to practice/train into other things.

Depends on the type of mining your going to do and the ship that you fly

- skills that increase m3 mined per cycle
- skills that increase the base statistics of your ship
- skills that allow you to fit modules
- skills that boost other people

for solo belt mining, you'll only need the first 3 groups
for fleet based mining, you'll only need the 4th group if your the booster (Orca)

Solo mining
- Belts, Anomalies, Gas

Fleet mining
- mostly belts

For belts
Mining Barge & Exhumer

For Anomalies & Gas
Mining & Expedition Frigates

Mining crystals will be very useful on exhumers, only train the ore-skills you need though
There's no point in training for the low/nul sec ores if you mine exclusively in high sec

Mining IV
Astrogeology I
Astrogeology II
Astrogeology III
Industry II
Industry III
Industry IV
Industry V
Mining Frigate II
Mining Frigate III
Mining Barge I
-At this point you can fly a mining barge

Spaceship Command IV
Astrogeology IV
Astrogeology V
Exhumers I
Mining Barge II
Mining Barge III
Mining Barge IV
Mining Barge V
-At this point you can fly an Exhumer

I would also recommend getting your drones skills up as well as some shield and engineering skills so you will have the cap and defenses.

Well, the first step should be mining barge. Get skills to jump in one, and fit it with T1 strip miners. Skill order to here is kind of arbitrary because sure, mining frigate 3 (which you need for barge) will increase ore gain on venture, but this gain is meaningless and will be forgotten in a week of barge mining.

Now when you are in barge, I would first put it to 3, then put mining to 5 for T2 strip miners and specialization for that. Then put barge to 5 and train the rest for exhumers.

Then you might consider a career in fleet boosting and so on. But make sure you are useful for something on your own at first.

Train for a T2 shield tank first, mix in basic drone skills and then get into a Procurer as soon as possible. All the rest is maxing efficiency over time.

Remove standings and insurance.
