This ... brainfart..
Eve has sound? yes..

Well, what if we could set our own sound effects on events ?
( make your own sound effect sets )

Example's

When you activate your warp drive, some old german dictator screaming
"Warp drive active!" ( with of course, bad old german accent )

Activating 1400 guns

"Ding!"

Every cycle of ECM

"**** you!"

Activating cyno

"Hotdrop o clock!"

And of course, im very curious what other creative ways my fellow players would make for a soundpacks

Quake sounds pop in my head.

I can't imagine a way how to exploit custom sounds. If you are the only one hearing them.
So why not? If it maks you happy

eve doesn't allow anything like this for the simple reason that it could very well give some one an advantage over some one who does not do this or who does not have the same soundpack

Eve isn't Cs:go. Where sound is a important part of the game.
You may arguing about gun sounds this could lead to instantly hear if they use blaster or rail fit.
But if you mod sounds that are marking events like docking request denied and you may make it silently or even granted.
As long your the only one hearing them your probably **** yourselve over.
Sounds kould be separate by sounds your environment dose (not modifiable)
Sound your actions do (modifiable)

the reason i have given is the exact reason given by ccp its the same when ppl bring up the idea of graphic mods. and something like docking could be important .

even docking being able to hear a more distinct difference between "docking request accepted" and "docking request denied" would be an advantage even if a very slim one in only a very small set of situations. I'm sure ccp does not want to sit down and decide what sounds have an impact and what dont. not to mention the more you open your game to moding the more vulnerable it becomes .

The moment you're such a top tier player this little effects of some sound could improve your game.
The ohter top tier players will adapted to it pretty fast and changed their sounds to.

The issue about security.
I'll give it to you that's a legit point.

So I can replace that quiet "pop" when someone warps on grid with something significantly louder?

There's one way custom sounds can give someone an advantage. I'm sure I could think of others if I tried.

The biggest problem with this is actually that it could cause checksum problems when trying to determine if the client has been modified. CCP could exempt the sound files from the checksum but then someone could use that as a path to inject code into the client while bypassing the cheat detection.

Well I think the sound is very underutilized. As a solo pvper I would probably have the custom sound "he is shooting you with rails" everytime I was being shot with rails, and "he is shooting you with blasters" when he uses blasters.

This information is already there in the logs but during a pvp fight I hate looking at those scrolling log files and figuring out who is using what.

Sound cues would be great. But the problem is when you zoom out the turret sounds go away. So really there is allot they could do with sound.

Make faction war occupancy pvp instead of pve https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=53815&#post53815
