Fuel production? Food production?

The last time I played EVE, circa 2006-2007, I wondered what products would be fun for a low-level industrialist to produce. I wanted to produce fuel, but I seem to remember that the only kind of fuel that could be produced in the game was something made from raw materials mined in low-sec systems. I tried to spend some time in 0.0 as a member of a corp with a presence there, but kept getting blown up or having to run and hide when enemies came calling. That got old very quickly. It was not fun for me.

Back then I wished players could produce something every system would need, like foodstuffs. I formed a one-man corp and tried producing small ships and missiles, but turning even a small profit was difficult because the large corps all seemed to produce everything they needed: ships, ammo, missiles, etc.

I returned to EVE recently with an alpha account, intending to be once again a casual miner and producer of things. After being gone for such a long time, I'm re-learning the game.

Is there a type of fuel or food product that anyone can produce anywhere and turn a modest profit?

You can produce fuel from planetary interaction ressources and mining ice, and you can do both of that in highsec.

There will be competition, but with lot of people putting the new POS aka citadels everywhere they can, the need for fuel blocks are constantly growing, so it's not that hard to make profit from it.

A ton of stuff happened to industry since your last time playing, I recommand you check youtube for videos from Delonewolf or Reload, they have covered most of the changes in quite short videos about it.

Otherwise, true that making profit from small stuff like ammos or drone is not that easy, small combat drones and mining drone eventually, but you would be better trying something a little bit bigger like cruisers.

In the name of Jirai 'Fatal' Laitanen : “Some capsuleers claim that ECM is 'dishonorable' and 'unfair'. Jam those ones first, and kill them last.”

Because a lot of industrial processes are passive - they don't care if you are logged in or not, CCP have severely restricted the Alpha accounts ability to participate. This is unfortunately necessary to prevent industrialists like me from exploiting the free accounts.

To manufacture fuel blocks as an Alpha, you would need to purchase your raw material on the market rather than harvesting it yourself. You can still make a profit if you have a fully researched blueprint and build at a public engineering complex with the structure manufacturing efficiency rig installed. https://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/blueprint/?typeid=4312

With the proliferation of Citadels and Engineering Complexes the demand for fuel is high and growing.

Oh yes, I definitely understand that the company would want to limit alpha accounts.

I will have to investigate the production of fuel. I have been away from EVE for a long time and I am still having a little trouble figuring things out. Some of it feels familiar, but I'm sure much has changed.

During my first go-round with EVE I often wished there was more focus on creating a more detailed economy. More things to produce would be more fun for someone like me. As it is, the large corps seem to produce everything, even frigates, themselves. At least that is how it seemed the last time I was active. The game seems to be oriented toward PVP, and that is not for me.

Eventually, if I am having fun as an alpha. I will upgrade to omega. My first time around with a full account I had fun for a little while, but then it became too stressful and tedious. At one point I joined a large corp, but I got tired of getting attacked and blown up when I tried to reach them in 0.0 space, and then when I finally got there, I kept having to run and hide every few minutes because enemies would enter the system. Blah.

for a low-level industrialist, fuel blocks are not a very good product to start with.

the profitmargin might be high in absolute terms, but it's rather low in relative terms. that means you need money to make money.

you also need the ability to transport huge amounts of material across the galaxy, since making them close to jita is killing almost the entire potential profit through taxes.

if you want to start as an industrialist on a shoestring budget, i'd recommend getting into rig production.

the final product is in high demand in all markethubs across new eden.

the materials are easy to find and definitely don't need a freighter to transport

the blueprints are cheap and fast to research

at the same time, the margin is okay, in both relative and absolute terms
