I've run into a problem with the launcher. It seems to run alright showing all the adverts and news items but gets stuck on the log-in screen. Instead of showing the client version it says "version info not available" and then hangs

I'm using the original Linux launcher version 104593.105 running under PCLinux OS 64bit as none of the newer ones worked.

I have no idea what has happened that the launcher, that was working, has now stopped and any thoughts would be welcomed.

I append the console output below:

[andrew1@localhost ~]$ /home/andrew1/EVE/evelauncher/evelauncher.sh

As I said until Tuesday this launcher was working and now it doesn't.

Hi, steam is not necessary to run eve, I also get that error. The qt files might be missing or inaccessible, Question: have you been running the evelauncher.sh as su or with sudo at all? I know that there is a problem where the launcher cannot access files that are not owned by the user that you run it with, even su. Also, in your ~/.local/share/CCP/EVE/launcher folder are there any log .txt files? Those will say what is going wrong at the login screen. Hopefully we can help you then.

Thanks.

I'll take a look but to be honest I have given up on trying to get the bloody launcher to work. The original launcher worked well until last Tuesday and I suspect that CCP did something and that has wiped me out.

I will check out the log files and post anything I find but my enthusiasm for EVE is draining away fast.

Well somehow I seem to have managed to get the launcher working but I haven't the faintest notion of how.

Looks like I'll be back in business as soon as I can get the problem of being stuck as an Alpha even though I am a paying customer.
