Not everyone flies in buttbuddy blob fleets, the proposed "nerf" is indeed a buff outside lolblobs.

So if you completely ignore the thing that would massively buff it, it's a nerf… yeah, great logic there — no distortion at all. Roll

If that's the way you want to do it, why not say that the Drake is getting a buff — you're dreaming if you seriously thing they will remove the resist bonus.

The suggestion CCP made is an unabashed buff: a significant increase of damage output and application in exchange for something the Drake doesn't particularly need, creating a much more focused ship.

Something it doesn't need? What? BTW what about those of us who trained to get our Shield comp skills up to use passive resist drakes properly? F them?

Its role is a strong buffer tank medium DPS. Resists are a BIG chunk of that buffer. It does NOT need to be changed.

I dont know about the drake nerf. Of all the ships in the game its one of the ones that doesnt bother me.

Yesterday in a 4 man frig roam we killed 2 solo drakes with ease in 2 enyos, a ranis and a comet. One was a failfit, the other was pretty standard but both melted in the same way.

If we had engaged a hurricane though...

Sounds like CSM's need to start thinking about Hurricane nerfs then.

Bleh, Canes never had a tank bonus and people use the heck out of them, so why not put the Drake on par with the Cane?

Also, ignore the Drake, fix the bloody Myrm. You never see Myrm blobs in 0.0 . . . .

The nerf is certainly long overdue. If I had gotten an ISK when the first advise to any newbie, regardless of anything else was: train Drake, then something is wrong with the balance.

That most caldari got to used to have the range of the HML comined with a tank that is more powerful then the one on most battleships tells me, a nerf was certainly overdue for a very long time.

....as if 10,058 Goon voices cried out and were suddenly silenced.

Man this almost reminds me of the time when people whined about the stealth bomber buff. You remember that?

Pure EHP can be misleading, especially if you factor in the strong resistance vs. everything except EM into this.

Actually it takes far less then 3 or 6 months.. maybe 2 months for a fleet T1 Drake, by 3 months it should almost be completely T2. Training skills to level 4 doesn't take long.

People forget about some of the negatives of drakes it seems, such as it takes time to apply DPS and alot of pvp fleets are armor based unless they are a pure drake blob fleet etc...


There are so many things wrong with your viewpoints on the matter.

First, The Ferox doesn't suck, remember they 'fixed' hybrids, its just a little slow, but can still do some damn good damage with a damn good tank. Hell, if you take a Ferox to a 1v1 you have a 30 second advantage on your opponent, since hes wondering who the hell brought a Ferox to a fight; which ought to be more then enough time to Web/Scram and start Neutroning it up.

Second, Caldari were the most popular years ago, pretty sure Winmatar won this war, because they don't look like generic white people, they arn't asian, and the internet is the only place its cool to be Black.

Third, You mentioned 'drake armies' previously and now your talking about the 'time it takes to apply dps'.. during the larger scaled battles where the 'drake army' shines... usually module lag causes everything to take time to apply dps. If you're a 6 month drake pilot, you should have at least the core skills in Missles trained to at least level 4 with a smattering of level 5's- but this is again overlooking the stupidity of talking about DPS (Damage Per Second) and Missles in the same sentence.

Its possible to get drakes over 120k EHP, not that it means anything. Buffer is life.

You know how you kill an RR BS gang? Make it jump through a gate after a target.

I love how people see a change or a 'nerf' and instantly think how it will affect 'them' without seeing the big picture.
(read: Drakes are flown outside of Empire people, with Arazu's and Scimitars. Thats the entire fleet comp.)
