This could make it harder to find a fight outside of arenas though. Right now people log in and who want to PvP they go out looking for trouble. They will either be the trouble or find trouble or maybe nothing. But if people can find a fight with a higher probability in these arenas then why bother going out and looking for one? You are correct when you go out looking for a fight your role as hunter could switch to being the hunted. I don't think putting something in game that can reduce this would be very good for the long run health of the game.

Arena isn't completely structured PvP. It's just another feature(tm) for a sandbox. No one forces to go to arena, if you don't like it.


Yes, but if the Arena has hard rules that can't be violated or intruded upon that run outside the norm for the game then it's not actually a part of the sandbox. If that's not the case then, well, we already have that. Players already hold tournaments, you just pick a system, don't advertise exactly where it is ahead of time, and hold the matches on an honor system.

The only reason to have a formal arena is if you want a piece of the sandbox to be taken out of the sandbox.

The biggest SANDBOX mmo doesn't have an arena system...funny that.

The whole game is a PvP arena already; and PvP is very easy to find.

No new mechanics are necessary for something that can already be accomplished in-game.

Various groups, especially in the Crime & Punishment subforum, have set up informal 1v1 competitions and met with quite a bit of success. Even now, there's a 1v1 Thunderdome-style match between a pair of ISDs brewing over there.

If you want an arena, set one up. Plain and simple.

Every single MMO that has added an arena has seen virtually all of the PvP outside of it vanish almost overnight.

Go play a MOBA if you want instant fights, because that is the game type where you get those.

This is a multiplayer sandbox and fights happen organically and not in an arena. The arena in those other MMOs are not really part of the main game, they are like an attacked minigame which are like a ****** mini-MOBA and completely breaks immersion. We don't need that in EVE.

1. Try using limited engagement its a 1v1
2. Create content yourself that is what eve is about.
You get fair fleet fights in rvb for example.

I'm not trolling, I create content for everyone to enjoy. afk cloaky in a system near you while posting in this forum.

EvE already has the largest PvP arena of any game. You access it by clicking the "Undock" button.


My dear friend, I remember EVE when "unlock button" didn't exist, when one size modules did fit all ships, when several mwds were fittable on one ship. So, please, don't teach me how to unlock :).

I'm here for almost as much as long as you, and I don't see your point: "no new pvp content in years" that don't even make sense, pvp is pvp period, want more "content" find more ennemies... ffs arena in Eve what next ? 100% safe hisec ?
You should unsub or find an EVE_nt / Alliance tourny team if it's some ****** balanced arena gameplay you want, or maybe run for CSM.
