Moon Resource Glitch?

I looked around the web, read tutorials, scanned the forums. I am at a loss.

As I understand it, moon with two units of an item should be able to support two moon harvesters. I have a moon with two units of Silicates. I can pull 100 units every hour, no problem. When I try to set up a second Harvester to get at the other unit on the moon, the interface tells me there is nothing to select.

2 Units Silicates = 200 units of Silicates from one moon, two Harvesters, two Silos.

Am I missing something?

Is this a bug?

I'm lost...

For the record, I surveyed the moon myself, verified what was supposed to be there.

It's been a long time since I have done that, but I remember that we can only extract one thing from a moon, so only one extractor per moon.

Not 100% sure about that though, I'll search for some infos.

I continued to search far and wide for an answer. I finally found something here. Alas, it must be true.

Silly me thinking moon mining was as intuitive as PI. I was rather shocked such a core game element was so badly designed. I about had a fit that the silo stayed red, even after I had things "correctly" linked up to it. I digress.

Thanks for the response.

Well, Pi is not that perfectly designed, but moon mining come from Pos, which is very very old code, and the mechanic and interface havent been touched one bit since a few years ago at least.

On top of that, everything will get completely replaced by a whole new thing, so for now there's neither up to date guide for moon mining as it is, nor any bit of information about the new moon mining, except that it will be way more active than what we have now.

You can pull two different materials from a moon, what you're getting confused by is the "abundance" figure. This has been in pretty much since day one of moon mining and has absolutely no effect on how much you can pull.

Long story short, it's always 100 units per hour, per materials type.

^ This

The abundance was supposed to be used for T2 harvesters, which were never added.

Appreciated.
