I was running the Eve Online client on a older Windows laptop that can only do 10 fps on the lowest settings. But for semi afk mining that was fine. I have brought my first Apple computer, a 2nd hand iMac 20", late 2006 model to learn OS X, tinker with, but also to hopefully play Eve on it. It has 2GB RAM, 250GB hard disk, ATI Radeon X1600 256MB GPU.

Is it possibe to run the game client on my old intel IMac using OS X Lion? Such as using an older version of Wine with the Windows game client.

EDIT: Found out that my iMac can dual boot OS X Lion with Windows. So I Installed Windows 7 and now I can run the EVE game client at about 2.5x more fps than what my older laptop could do. At 1680x1080 I get 20fps with the lowest settings which is ok for semi afk mining in high sec.

Glad you found out. I don't think it will last to long as CCP makes updates to the game. But might last long enough for you to scrap some money together and get a newer computer.

I brought the 2nd hand iMac to tinker with, learn OS X and do semi afk mining in high sec where low fps won't be a problem. It was only £65 on ebay. I have another games PC that can run EVE with all the eye candy turned on at 60 fps. Whatever I do on the games PC won't be affected by semi afk high sec mining on the iMac where I can quickly take a look to my right at the iMac monitor and see if my mining ship has stopped mining and if so do some quick clicks with a 2nd wireless mouse to start mining again.

Yesterday I swapped out the 250GB 7200rpm 3.5" mechanical hard disk for a 90 GB SSD that was in the aforementioned laptop. The iMac in OS X and Windows is now far less laggy but because the iMac only has a SATA-I interface the SSD read speed is capped at 130 MB a second read instead of possible maximum of 280 MB a second read with a SATA-II or SATA-III connection.
