This may be a really dumb question... but how can I tell if a station is a NPCstation while in null space?

If I see a station in the overview will it be safe to dock at?

There are several NPC regions in Nullsec: Syndicate, Outer Ring, Venal, Great Wildlands, Curse and Stain. All stations in these regions are NPC. There are NPC pockets in other regions: Serpentis in Fountain, Sisters of Eve and Mordu's Legion in Pure Blind, Society of Conscious Thought in Geminate, Blood Raiders in Delve. Their stations are NPC and you can dock there.

You show as neutral in Providence (not listed as KOS (kill on sight)) so you will be able to dock at any station in that region - some may charge a docking fee. While locals will not shoot you in Providence there are generally lots of visitors who will.

Other regions are NBSI (not blue, shoot it) and you will likely be shot at by anyone you see.

http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map will show you where the stations are and who owns them.

1. Sovereignty alliance space does not have NPC stations; open the map and show sov. tiles and you'll see the few areas that are NPC owned. EDIT: answered above.

2. NPC stations usually have names like: Jita IV - Moon 4 - Caldari Navy Assembly Plant, and the Type in the overview is Caldari Station. Player stations usually have names like: Jita - TwistedTwistedTwistedMunchkin Paradise - FU RoleplayersTwistedTwistedTwisted and Type = Astrahus or Keepstar or w/e. And it's not in the overview if you can't dock at it, although you can still d-scan or probe it to warp there.

3. Show info on the solar system and look at the (NPC) Stations tab vs. (Player) Structures tab, see what's listed where.

Same way you identify NPC ship icons.

NPC icons are solid.
