Fleet clears site, wrecks all yellow

This is what happened:

- I scanned down a drone, warped to it and no drone was there, just an acceleration gate
- activated the gate and encountered a ton of hostile pirates --> warped out
- formed fleet with someone who went in and killed pirates, discovered 2nd room
- fleet mate cleared 2nd room, went back for their noctis
- called me to the site and we both had all wrecks yellow

My understanding so far is that the one destroying the wreck is the owner of the wreck. Or am I missing something?

Yellow wrecks "belong" so someone else.
You can salvage them just fine, you can loot them too but will incur a suspect flag.

To loot them without getting this flag you need to ask your fleet mate the "blue" the wrecks.
This is done by right clicking one of them and selecting "abandon all nearby wrecks".

They literally turn blue so it's pretty obvious if he's done it correctly or not.

Of course there's a whole lot of fuckery to be had by just straight up nicken stuff from mission bears.

Thanks for the reply. The problem is that my fleet mate, who destroyed the ships, said the wrecks were yellow for her, too. I should've made that clearer in the first post...

Wreck owner:

- the one who destroyed it
- people in the same player corp
- people in the same fleet while being in the same area

So if you're not part of the same player corp and one of you left the area (to grab a different ship), the wrecks that were created while that person was gone will be yellow to that person.

Not possible, either she didn't notice the wrecks before or she didn't notice someone else being in that site who was also killing the NPC.

Alright, that makes sense, because I didn't use the gate until it was all cleared and she had left and come back.

Not sure if she'd miss something like that given that she appeared very experienced, but probably the case.

Thank you Smile

I do a lot of combat exploration, mission busting and other stuff that's competitive and involves being in the same mission area as other players. The amount of times people don't even notice me being there (and subsequently me either killing them or ending up with the fancy loot) is both depressing and hilarious.

You can not warp directly to deadspace. So when either you warp to a fleetmate in deadspace or scan someone down and warp to them in deadspace then you wind up at the acceleration gate.

Since you said that you scanned down a drone and warped to it and wound up at the acceleration gate that tells me that someoneelse was inside the deadspace pocket with drones out most likely killing stuff.

There are not enough details for me to try and figure much more than this out just based on what you posted thus far but it seems pretty clear to me that there was a third party involved at some point.

Worth noting is that you can not scan down mission pockets, the NPCs the wrecks and all the stuff in them is not scannable. The only time that you can find a mission pocket by scanning is when another player enters it and give you something to scan like a ship or an MTU or a drone etc...

I see. That explains why I never saw the drone. Whoever was in there then brought Hobgoblin I's to fight battleships and battlecruisers. And succeeded Shocked

Yikes, is it considered rude to invade into someone's mission pocket like that or is it business as usual? If I'd seen someone clearing the site I'd just have left...

For what it is worth, I recommend right-clicking a wreck and selecting "Abandon all wrecks", when working with people not from your corp or alliance.

Abandoned wrecks appear blue, and can be looted by anybody without getting a suspect flag.

The one restriction to blue wrecks is that they technically still have an owner, so if you shoot a blue wreck in hisec, CONCORD will respond to punish the heinous act.

I smash level 4s all day and only use Hobgoblins. The drone bandwidth of a Paladin (T2 battleship, 1000 DPS/1500 tank) is 25 mbit, which means 5 light drones.

This reminds me of another point. If you want to know who a yellow wreck belongs to you should be able to right-click then "show info" and see the character that owns the wreck and click on the character for more info on them.
