The only MMORPG that charges you Extra to have 2 or more characters.

Greetings,
I'm a new player but I have question. Why is Eve Online the only MMORPG to charge it's customers for having more than 1 character on the same account for Skill Training? Every single MMORPG allows 4-8 characters approx. per account for FREE even with a $14.99 monthly subscription. I don't get penalized on my mage or warrior for training them at the same time or leveling them at the same time. Why does Eve Online want another $14.99 a month for a second character? Thats $30/month to play 2 characters. It's very ******** and doesn't let me explore other races and other ships. I LOVE EVE, but this is the #1 Turn OFF that makes me want to QUIT. My main character will be training skills for the next 5 years, why in the world would i want to stop his/her training when i need to train both at the same time? GAh, this is insane. Thanks for your time and understanding. Please do something about this. Don't punish your players.

Other MMORPGs don't offer always-on training, so you can't actually level two characters at once (as only one can be online at a time). Eve, thank goodness, does offer persistent training instead of insisting you grind levels of whatever. As a result, they only allow one training queue at a time (without extra investment). Makes sense to me.

Your choice of race and bloodline at Character Creation doesn't prevent you from training into any ship you like. Only Alpha accounts have this restriction.

So go and create your Amarrian Ragnarok pilot. Then discover you'll want a second account for the purpose of lighting cynos.

AFAIK: No other MMO lets you run multiple characters simultaneously from the one account. You want two simultaneous windows into the game world, you need two accounts.

You get 3 characters per account same as everyone else.

As has already been pointed out, pick any game you want, but you can't log in more than one character, or train more than one character at any one time on the same account.

Here you can, but you have to effectively pay for 2 accounts for a while until you train the second one to where you need it to be.

You can train all three characters if you wish.

Just activate the queue on the character you are currently playing.

Simple answer: EVE is different. That is why EVE is still around. How many games are there that let you train your skills while you are not logged in?

And you can train all three pilots on your account without an additional fee. Only restriction is you can only train one pilot at a time without multitraining.

If you're good at Eve you can pay your subscription and multiple character training using income earned in-game. You don't have to buy PLEX from CCP for cash - you can buy them on the in-game market for ISK.

You won't be able to do that as a new player - some knowledge and experience is required but you really don't need to be good - you just need to be better than the competition!

You can't play two players on the same account, at the same time. It's always been my recommendation that you DON'T split your skill time up on the one account. You just end up with two half assed characters.
So,
If you want to have two decent characters that you CAN play at the same time, you need a second account. And ya gotta pay for that.
2 or even 3 accounts can be fun btw. 30 bucks a month is a dollar a day. Pretty cheap entertainment where I come from.

Be happy that everyone else can't train 3 at once either, because OMG how much harder would that be to catch up with?

they don't allow multiple skill training with out paying extra because you can train up characters to transfer to another account and sell. theres already people using extra accounts to farm sp for skill injectors to keep a constant income.

how the hell are you gonna level your mage and warrior at the same time? you cant!
you keep drop dollar amounts. do you know that you can buy PLEX with game currency and not pay a single real life cent for it? thus EVE, unlike all other MMORGs, allows you to train all 3 characters at the same time for free.

well always remember eve is a money pit (and you need a steady income for the first couple of years to play this game)
more and more skills are added in the history of eve
for beginners it has never changed the time for skills
a 30 days skill is just way to much for beginners and even growing characters
eve still needs to be balanced on certain aspects
it all looked great in the beginning of eve
for starters its hell atm ( i sometimes think "do they know where they are going into"

remember the laughs are not about the laughs for players but for their income
its a company who needs money to (understandable)

if you choose to live in HS you never going to get self-sufficient (it just eats to much time and effort)
is a choice

and that's why people leave, and come back , and leave again...
for the returners nothing changed actually.
just more changed skills (thats why they introduced skill injectors,((who cost you money to ,and a lot..))

and yes i believe the mining business in HS is not in a good balance on/for the orca
the special drones are way to expensive (no one can afford to use them because of the ganking npc corp catalysts)
and the remote shield is to slow on duration and can not defend your hulk even with one attacking catalyst

after my return i am even forced to leave my corp because the suddenly rising of the many wars(still unbalanced are to cheap to begin for no reason) in Hs ,. i am a miner so can t use wars
therefore i am force to play on my own and do not even have the benefits from a corp or other corp member (things ccp never thought about)
-just to give you a example when you are in a NPC corp ,you cant use a processing array ,its forbidden-( great; but not)
and the orca does not provide you that possibility

for me as a miner/builder in HS it is also a dangerous place to (i m just to old to pvp , and even dont like pvp ,i even think i do not belong in eve anymore)

i have 2 mining characters [Omega]
and 4 alts doing T O T A L Y N O T H I N G
so i understand your frustration

Life is a money pit my friend and when the bucks for EVE are a serious problem things more important than online games are probably too. As far as I know all Massive Multiplayer Online Games only have a limited “free to play” model/trial and will cost money when you want to advance. That there is a way to pay your sub with ingame currency is rare among MMOGs.

I started EVE seven months ago and I beg to differ. While skills were added, only the time to learn them ALL increased, the time to learn a subset and start into an EVE career got reduced as far as I know. New players start with far more starting skills and skillpoints than they used to when EVE was only a few years old. And some skill requirements were lowered like racial Battleship V to IV when training for a carrier. The 30 day skills are for vets that exactly know what they want to do in EVE, not for newbies or players training into their first EVE professions. Those long trains are like a warning sign: Don’t train into this if you are not 100% certain what you do.

As a non-native speaker I am quite fluent in English as a second language but I have no clue what you want to tell us here. If I ever got the feeling that a company has a good laugh together with their players it is CCP. And yes, salaries and servers have to get paid.

I sense a strong “bittervet” syndrome here. But if you ask me it has nothing to do with how skills are handled in EVE but solely with the fact that you spend all those years in highsec with mining and industry. Let’s assume you could have trained all three slots at the same time. What would have been different? Personally l love the EVE game mechanics for three things: That my pilots advances while don’t have the time to log in, that all my fits work without endless hours of grind for loot and that nearly everything can be blown up.

thanks for your comment
pitty that you said i was:- rambling and said that eve is dead, a thing i never said (its more alive then ever) -

for some addition to your thoughts perhaps
[[ after my return i am even forced to leave my corp because the suddenly rising of the many wars(still unbalanced and are to cheap to begin with for no reason) in HS ,.
i am a miner so can t use wars.....
there fore i am forced to play on my own (to npc scope)and do not even have the benefits from a corp or other corp member (things ccp never thought about)

((and if you noticed NPC factions are way to overcrowded with players who have to stay there for a reason )i believe they are kept away from the benefits
big corporations have in the save low aria (because i believe hs is more dangerous then the corporate low or zero zero because you are grounded in hs if a war breaks out))

-just to give you an example when you are in a NPC corp, you cant use a processing array, its forbidden for npc corp members -( not good )
(citadels provide them but most are closed for visitors, and in my aria they are all closed)

and the orca does not provide you that possibility ]]

perhaps you can give me your thoughts about this to
because it seems you forgot that point

Just try something different? Join Horde/Dreddit/Brave whatever? Mine in a Wormhole with some other peaceful people and avoid conflicts as much as possible? (Easier than in Highsec when you ask me.)
Have look onto No Mans Sky to relax and play EVE when you want an adventure?

How can you train your Mage and Warrior at the same time from the same account in WoW? You can't. Sure, you can have up to I think 11 total characters per server, but you can't have more than one logged in (from the same account) at the same time. Thus you're really only leveling up one character at a time, and only while you're actually leveling (questing, pvp, raids, etc). Same 'can' go for EVE. You really want to divide your training time like you HAVE to in other MMO's such as WoW? Go ahead and pause the training on your main, log in an alt and fire up their training queue. That would be the most similar way to train alts in virtually every other MMO (like WoW).

Would you like to know how EVE's way of training is better than other MMO's? Your main is training whether you're logged in to game or not, whether you're actually doing anything productive or not. You can be logged in and working the trade market, or just staring at your ships in your hanger, helping noobs in chat, you're still leveling up presuming you have skills in your queue. And the irony of your post is, EVE is one of the only MMO's that actually LETs YOU train more than 1 character at the same time. Not the other way around like so many people think. Sure, it 'can' cost you more money to train multiple toons at the same time if you so chose, but once you figure out one of the many ways to accumulate ISK, you can start buying PLEX from the in game market with ISK. From there, you can either activate Multiple Character Training, or even pay your sub and not have to spend any real money at all. If you get good enough at making ISK, you can have all three characters on one account training at the same time or even run multiple accounts so you can log more than one toon in at a time and not have to spend a dime of real money.

Yes, the rub is that you'll be training for a looong time. You don't hit level cap easily like in WoW. That's another thing I prefer about EVE. In games like WoW, I hit level cap, do all the end game stuff and get bored. And in EVE, you don't have to be training long to learn how to make ISK, to work the market, to run missions, to explore, to pvp, to mine, to do Planetary Interaction, etc, etc. A 30day queue will let you do all those things.

So don't rage quit. Just look it from a different point of view.

TLDR; You have it backwards. Don't quit. EVE's way of training is actually better.

In Eve, ISK = SP. If you want to train multiple characters, earn some ISK and buy SP.
