Exploration ship for Alpha

So I was fortunate in my background. I stumbled across EVE retail packages in FYE back in 2009/10 on clearance. I had never played before but I love space so I bought a couple. After I started, I went back and bought the rest. In that first stint, I sold all that plex and got myself the best scanner implants and a Proteus. Cloaking, and set up with stasis nullifiers etc. This thing was built for scanning wormholes and for running (courier contracts were my thing).

Now I'm back and only alpha so my Proteus is collecting dust. I need suggestions for a ship I can use for scanning down wormholes and courier work. I was going to buy a Gnosis but another thread has me second guessing. Since apparently Gnosis is like a target to pirates.

I don't go into low sec very often as I'm still new plus if I'm podded I will lose my pricy implants?

My alt char is an ice miner with an ORE barge but he's been reduced to plagiocide farming in a venture.

As an Alpha I am pretty sure you're going to be stuck in the Imicus as an exploration ship. Remember to fill the drone bays before you head out.

I forgot to say I'm currently in a Catalyst but I'll look into Imicus. Is there a market for wormhole scouts?

If you have the ISK, the Sunesis (destroyer) and the gnosis (battlecruiser class) are both useable by Alpha's and have bonuses to scanning (and decent drone bonuses too!)

Some people make a living by scouting out empty wormholes and selling the location. That typically means having a load of alts, though, as you need to leave someone in the wormhole so you can scan down the exit for your buyer.

Alpha accounts are fine for this, by the way, as they come with all the skills you need, and sending them a little cash gets them the (very cheap) ship and modules they need.

Of course, some of us live in w-space full time, and there are all sorts of ways that even an alpha clone can make good money. You might want to check out my blog (see sig) for a taste of what this life has to offer.

In particular, you might find this post, and my posts on wormhole PI of interest. I'm pvp focused, so all my industry skills are really poor, but I could still plex my account off my wormhole PI profits alone.

The up front capital (always the killer for space poor pilots like ourselves) is not too bad, either.

If you like reading about low sec piracy or wormhole pvp, you might enjoy my blog.

Me too! Its been ages since ive stepped out of hisec so I might roll a new scouting account.

Oh wait my jita orders got updated..
and.. I have to contract these stuff to red frog..
and my Manufacturing job is almost time.. just 4 more minutes..
and while im at it, im gonna pick up some planetary materials..
