can I "see" other players flying around?

I was playing Eve Online I saw NOBODY at all.

You really need to post this question in the "new citizens" forum our in the "General Discussions" forum.

This sub-forum is dedicated to research and industry and frankly is pretty slow.

Short answer is yes, of course you can. You cant shoot people you cant see.

A helpful answer would come from the New player forum

You should have asked this in either the new player or general discussion forums, Science and industry is for questions/discussions about performing research and manufacturing inside the game, but I'll answer anyway.

You have to be within a certain distance from them to see them, but if you are close enough you can see their ships, and they can see you, cloaked ships excepted.

Whether or not you will see other players depends on certain things, such as the time you are playing at (may not be prime time for European or US players) which area you are flying in (not all areas have an equal number of players in them), and whether or not they get shy and dock up or move to a "safe spot" when they see a player they don't recognise (to avoid being ganked).

Try hanging around one of the major trade hubs (Jita, Amarr, Dodixie, Rens or Hek) in Eu or US prime time and you'll see lots of players in all sorts of ships, some of them getting up to various types of mischief with each other. Some of them might even try to involve you in their shenanigans, whether you want that or not.
