Quote:

Me and my small corp live in W-Space and have done so pretty much for the last 18 months or so. Last night, 3 of us, 2 accounts each, decided to run an anom with capital escalations, so after securing the hole we warp an archon, rev and a loki into the field. The second they land, our prober spots a new signature in the system, which is quickly resolved into a C3/C4(not sure which) K162. With 12 Sleeper guardians on us dishing out about 8000 dps, with heavy neuts, scram and webs, we proceed to take them down as quickly as we can while keeping eyes on the incoming hole. A cloaky legion is spotted, and since we are running an anom he doesn't need probes to find us. After killing 12 Guardians with the pimp fitted 10k DPS Revelation a ship decloaks directly on top of us, followed by a huge fleet of T3s, Guardians and Bhaalgorns. The 3 Bhaals quickly drain the Rev of cap, removing all dps we have in the field and their high dps easily shreads through the fleet.
While this is happening we prepare 2 additional capital ships(1 carrier and 1 dread) at the POS to warp in at 250km to trigger the extra 16 sleeper guardians to spawn, which hopefully would overwhelm their tank since that many guardians can easily instapop ships under 100k EHP. Unfortunately the warp-in only triggered 8 sleeper guardians to spawn, which we can't properly understand since these characters and ships had not been on the field before. The two extra caps, being well out of range for anyone easily get out. None of the hostile forces were killed but my guess is that might have been different if the whole spawn would have appeared, not sure though.
The only enjoyable part of the whole thing was a comment made by one of us after our fleet was obliterated:

  • X: Sooo.... Who the **** are Rooks and Kings?

  • Me: Dude...

  • moment passes

  • Me: So do you remember the ****** up good pvp vid you saw on youtube where the guy so memorably screamed NOW LOOK! .... and proceeds to order his fleet around in a very professional manner, resulting in winning the fight

  • X: Yeah...

  • Me: And the two other vids where they have massively coordinated logistics teams of guardians and triage carriers with heavy use of bhaalgorns?

  • X: Yeah...

  • Me: Well that was them

  • X: ****

  • TL;DR we were dropped by a huge fleet of Guillotine Therapy - Rooks and Kings last night while doing cap escalated anoms in a C5 wh.

What sort of comment would satisfy you? I suppose they could come in and talk about ponies.

Just a summary would suffice, maybe comments about the capital escalation.

    1) wall of text; too bored to waste time reading it.
    2) Move it to CAOD (unless you are too small of a corp to be able to post there, otherwise ask to have the post deleted)

The kills in question were made by our wormhole division, Guillotine Therapy, so I cannot comment first-hand (I get to join them every few months for a holiday in wormhole space).

From the write-up it sounds like you have good technique and were rather unlucky with the timing of that spawn. However, being caught out once in a blue moon is probably an inevitability of wormhole life. Risk and reward, as they say.

Regarding the escalation, it seems well worth trying. Nothing to lose at that point. I think I would have done the same (although don't thereby infer it to be the right thing to do; my understanding of wh-mechanics is not equal to a GT member's). Whether it would have worked is harder to say. You mention the sleepers potentially being able to punch through sub 100k EHP ships with alpha - but a Kaboose Guardian (i.e. the Logistics ship, not the Sleeper) can have 160k EHP overloaded. But still, certainly well worth a try, to my mind.

Generally speaking, there is a lot of capital hunting in wormholes these days. The day before the kills in question for example, Guillotine Therapy pounced on another group of caps - the unusual thing, in fact, being that there are mails rather than just self-destructs. They are probably preparing to head out for a hunt again tonight as I write this. Yet although capitals will perish now and then, I think an observant group make themselves hard to catch often.

You guys seem to be on the ball and I'm sure you'll weather the odd storm without harm in the long run.

Why wouldn't they be happy with the observation that their FC's take charge, are very professional, and capable of winning an uphill fight?

Or are you one of those folks that think a fleet should be a democratic process, where everyone votes on what to do next and no one has the right to tell anyone else what to do Big smile.

It'll probably get trolled to hell and back if it was done on COAD.

+1 for the "NOW LOOK" part though. Pretty funny
