PLEASE CCP MAKE RIFTERS GREAT AGAIN, THEY'RE SO USELESS WITH NO TANK OR DPS AND ONLY GOOD WHEN IN A FLEET TOGETHER IN THE SAME SHIP, BY THE TIME I'M AT SCHOOL AND BACK I WANNA SEE THIS THREAD AT LEAST MOTIVATED SadWhat?

Lrn2ScramKite. Avoid missile boats. Or throw in fitting mods/rigs and fly with Artillery. Never orbit. Stop being bad.

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

On the other hand, as bad as Rifters are, Punishers are worse. Except in gangs. Which is probably the only way any sane Punisher pilot will ever be seen fighting in. That or they pull off some strange fits like hybrid blaster fits.

Punishers are used to bait in FW plexes where you brick tank it and fit scram web. Anyone bites you decloak and/or undock in a thrasher and kill anyone.

Post with your NPC alt main and not your main main alt!

I don't recall what the successors were. I remember when Gallente stopped being the whipping boy the Incursus was good for a while. But around then I stopped paying attention.

Let's see, far as Combat Frigates go, Tormentors are like laser buffer-tanked Breachers. Breachers have very stiff tank, about as fast as Rifters and do more stable dps because rockets and drones. They can kite, just not particularly good at it. Kestrels come in brawler and kiter flavours and do more on-paper dps than the rest due to four launchers. Merlin is like a shield Incursus with buffer instead of active bonuses and no tracking bonus.

Now, Tristans are arguably OP due to their versatility. They can kite, they can brawl, they can cap warfare. So many fits work on the Tristan. And best/worst part is no matter what fit they use, they will always have brawler-level tank be it in the form of armour or shield.

Just like to say thankyou to everyone who are talking about this,
Sure, other frigates have been buffed and nerfed, and it's more like.. the rifter has been pretty much ignored.
By this.. that really means that now frigates have a much larger suitability against rifters due to the buffing on the other frigates and patching etc. I'd love to just see CCP rework the rifters traits or mid / top / low slots, something really has to change.

Incurses, close brawling blap blap rep fit easy.
sure trying to kite with a rifter, I tried that, except a lot of the people have (Skills trained) at lvl 5 to have that extra 25% tracking and signature size etc. No hate against people training skills, it's awesome and improves a lot more in your pvp focus when fighting.
But that's not something you can really do anymore due to the patching and updating. Merlin vs Rifter, they both have reps, Merlin will out dps the rifter, try to kite the merlin and the merlin will just approach away, and approach back in with overburning it's afterburner, but it does come down to fits, if the merlin is x2 webs.... rifter = screwed. If the merlin comes back without x2 webs and runs into the rifter you're pretty much screwed due to how much alpha a merlin can do. I am a noob at EVE I'm not gonna lie but frigates do really have a better bonus fighting against a rifter, my corps idea tonight will just be roaming out in slashers with a tracking disruptor, and trying to tackle cruisers and orbit 500m, but thanks to everyone who have had talked about it.

Well.... Maybe the problem is how you use the rifter? A rifter or any autocannon based ship should live and die in fall-off range. If you are orbiting at 500m with an afterburner, you are really orbiting at 1000m and in the optimal range of blasters. Blasters have had tracking. Try orbiting at say... 2000. You are out of blaster optimal range and still hitting well enough with your ACs while the Merlin doesn't.

As for improving the rifter... If you want to make it OP, up the tracking bonus by 2.5% per level. Then use the ship correctly. But otherwise, don't brawl at point blank range with a Merlin.

Also, what is in your 4th high slot? Against a merlin, using a neut instead of a rocket launcher is a huge help. Killing the capacitor on a Merlin helps a lot.

by then neuting it, you'd be dead before it's cap out. Thats the sad part of rifters, I have tried a lot of different tanks against merlins with neuts etc.
