Everyone in Caldari space?

Why Caldari space is so crowded?

I've noticed it after a three-day trip from Caldari space to Gallente and Minmatar clearing combat sites.
In this trip I at least tripled the combat sites found and cleared than those found in Caldari space (where half of the times I found someone else clearing them when i warped in).

So, I'm curious to find out what makes Caldari space the first choise for PvE?
Is everyone specced for shield tank and missile?
Are Guristas easier than other pirates?
Are exotics dancer easier cheaper?

I think there are two grounds.

1st - Jita is in Caldari space and many players go there.
2nd - Evryone like missile :D

Most of new characters created are caldari.
Shield are more popular than armor tanks.
Guristas may be annoying, they use ECM.
Why first choice for PvE? GSO and DED5 in hisec space, hundreds of milions drops.

If you want less crowded space move to Amarr. This imperium own more regions with more systems. I'm living there for years and it's very quiet in here, especially on far frontiers.

What's significant about Jita? (I'm new so don't know much Eve lore.)

Some of this hasn't been accurate in at least 5 years, maybe more.

Caldari USED TO be the most popular starting faction. Now it's Gallente.
Shields USED TO be the most popular tank because everyone was caldari, but as far as effectiveness it doesn't really matter and opinion seems to flip flop about every 6 months.

Caldari also has (used to have?) some notable high profit LP store items, which made them a popular PVE faction. I don't know if that's still true.

Those old incentives, as well as some old landscape peculiarities, drove Jita to become the most active trade hub, and that's harder to break than a FotM. Might also be an issue of systems per faction, as they aren't even close to being balanced (Amarr has something around twice the number of systems of any other faction giving people more room to spread out, though I guess I'm not sure off the top of my head how Caldari fits in.)

How safe is it to go to Jita ? And can i, as a 'returned' eve player who haven't played in 3 years (and feels like a total noob agian haha), manage myself there ?

I am looking to make some cash with mining or doing contracts for other people, also i would like to find a new home station.. any suggestions ?

It mostly depends on what is in your cargo hold. I frequently move in and out of Jita, and as long as I am not involved in a War with the notorious hubhumpers, there's absolutely no problem, because I typically don't carry enough stuff to be a worthwhile gank-target.

If you do carry a lot of stuff, you will probably want to take some protective measures - fit a cloak/mwd and have some bookmarks such as insta undock/insta dock spots prepared.

To the poster above:

- It's pretty safe if you're empty. Most of the people who loiter outside the station, and by the stargates on the ways in, are looking to make a profit by looting your cargo, so they scan to see if it's worth it before they shoot.

- If you're bringing stuff to sell, or taking just-purchased stuff out, you'll probably want to have insta-undock, insta-dock, a decently tanked ship that can also align to warp relatively fast, and don't autopilot. And keep your cargo reasonable, don't go 100+ million in the weakest paper-thin industrial, or even worse, frigate or shuttle.

- Finally, never transport PLEX or skill injectors. You're supposed to go to Jita first, THEN unload these things from the Redeem window. And also, PLEX and skill injectors can be used from anywhere across the galaxy, so there's no point to transporting them.

So basically, go there empty, maybe in a shuttle or whatever, and create some bookmarks so you can arrive right under the station at 0km (insta-dock), and when you exit from the station, keep going in a straight line out to about 300km and create a bookmark there (insta-undock), so that your loaded transport ship that just launched from the station doesn't have to turn to enter warp but can warp straight ahead to the bookmark first (away from the possible pirates), and then maneuver / turn for your final destination.

To the OP, Caldari are / were popular because:

1. Missiles are easy mode PVE.

2. Shield tanks are lower-stress defenses. If you lose your shields, the enemy still has to go through your armor to kill you, so you have some time to align and warp out / escape. Armor defenses, when the armor is gone, your ship explodes pretty fast.

3. In the past, we couldn't re-map our attributes to speed up skill training, and the Caldari Achura had extremely ugly male avatars and decent female avatars, but had a couple extra attribute points compared to everyone else, and also had their attributes mapped favorably with very few points in Charisma.

4. Of all the different electronic warfare / jamming modules, ECM is the nastiest; it's the equivalent of a hard stun, you can't do anything if you can't target anything.

5. Guristas pirates use ECM on you, so that was an annoyance, actually.

So right now, because the different races have different limits for the Alphas, it turns out that the Gallente may become the most popular, because:

1. They have the best selection of industrial (transport) ships that can be used with the Alpha limits, including dedicated ore and mineral transport ships that can carry 45-50,000 m3 with minimal skill requirements. Given that mining in high-sec is popular, this is a big advantage.

2. Drones are second-easiest mode PVE.

3. Alpha Gallente ships have excellent versatility; the Vexor cruiser, for example, has an even slot layout (can be fitted armor or shields) and a drone bay (can be fitted with guns and drones or just drones), and is just a gem of a ship.

Basically, tiny advantages, and over time more and more Gallente characters will accumulate and eventually they'll probably surpass Caldari. Unless, of course, CCP re-balances some of the ships or some of the Alpha limitations, to even things out (which, I think they said they're considering).

I'm sure it was caldari back when I was starting (~3 years ago), there was a chart at vegas or fanfest. Now it's gallente for obvious reasons.

Mostly jita, and also I started caldari and pretty much all my stuff is in caldari space so I stick around. I also have a lot of stuff in amarr space, but it is a quick trip. I don't go in the belts, or try to put up structures so it doesn't really make any difference to me how many people are around. If anything having more people around helps me as they sell me stuff and then buy it back for more.

Historically Caldari characters had the best attributes and starting skills.

This was pre-Apocrypha (Feb 2009 ... actually, I think it may have been in the Red Moon Rising expansion when they hit their peak), when your race, bloodline, and profession determined what skills and attributes (there were fewer attribute points, and you could only assign 5 points with no more than 2 in a single attribute, plus the minimum was 2 Charisma for Caldari Achura) you started with.

At some point earlier than that, Gallente characters had an advantage, so you might notice that the oldest characters tend to be Gallente.

I'm Caldari, but "grew-up" in Amarr space, because it is better for mining (largest number of systems, and lower population). After about 2 months, I moved into w-space for nearly 3 years. I chose Caldari, because the story fit me (an industrialist), plus my friend was also Caldari. My first portrait was a failed attempt to look like Grand Moff Tarkin.
