EC manufacturing services disabled

I recently installed a manufacturing job in a local EC - I have previously built small stuff there without a problem.

I logged in to check & my job had been halted. Further investigation revealed that my BPC was back in my hangar & the cap parts I installed to build the job (orca) were nowhere to be found .

It appears that manufacturing services have been disabled mid run. I'm not sure why as the EC's corp CEO is not responding to mails.

The EC's corp is not subject to a war dec, so I am guessing it ran out of fuel.

Are my cap parts lost forever?

I've only used public EC's for research. In that case, when the structure ran out of fuel my job paused and resumed when the owner refueled the Raitaru. No harm done but a few nervous moments.

Nothing I've read suggests that manufacturing jobs would work differently. If you cancel the job you lose BPC & materials but BPO is returned. Otherwise job should resume when the structure is refueled.

Situation where you didn't cancel the job and got the BPC back but not the components sounds like a bug.

Owners who fail to refuel will likely be a common occurrence for a variety of reasons. I would think twice before submitting a job that isn't covered by asset safety in a public EC unless I know and trust the owner.

Since citadels were released I've made three attempts to offshore my buying. When the market in the my third attempt went off line a month ago (the Astrahus is still there), I returned my buy actions to the NPC. Is it likely I could find a long-term reliable facility? Probability. But not worth the effort to hunt down.

Like Do Little and many other very small or solo industrialist, I'll eventually be moving all my industry operations from POS to NPC....lack of reliable fuel is only one reaons.

If you cancel a job and the BPC has runs left, it's returned to the hangar, the material is lost. If your job is halted and the EC is not under attack your only chance is to talk to the owner getting the service back online.

I have finally received a response from the CEO of the corp that owns the EC.

He advises that a corp member attempted to steal the EC & unanchored the EC, which I assume disabled manufacturing services. It appears that disabling services cancels ongoing jobs.

I am submitting support ticket as I did not cancel the job. CCP's response will be interesting.

hmmm.....Stealing or attempting to steal any in-game asset is not a violation of the in-game rules. The natural consequence of unanchoring an EC is that running jobs are irrevocably stopped.

do let us know what happens.

I will certainly post whatever further information I obtain.

From what I've gleaned so far (assuming what I have been told by the corp CEO is true), when my manufacturing job was cancelled my capital parts were lost. If that's the case the alleged thief would have gained zip as all my other "assets" in the EC were covered by asset safety. Strangely none of these assets went to asset safety & simply stayed in my hangar.

I get the feeling (perhaps classed as hope) that there is bug here. On the other hand, if this is simply "as intended" I can see people being very reluctant to manufacture in ECs they do not themselves own. Perhaps that's the plan.

If the service module is not just disabled but removed, the jobs get not halted but canceled iirc. The asset safety only kicks in when the EC is destroyed, removed finally. I think there is a waiting period for unanchoring ... which can also be stopped. If you have still stuff in hangar, the EC must be still there?

Asset Safety

https://support.eveonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/208289365-Asset-Safety

"Personal Asset Safety is triggered when a Citadel is destroyed, unanchored, or the player manually activates it."

When a manufacturing job is cancelled, inputs (including the BPC) are lost.

When a research/design job is cancelled, the currently active step is lost (i.e. improving from ME 2 to 3 and cancelled before ME3 complete, the BPO remains at ME2.)

BPOs are never at risk of loss while residing in an ECM. Of course, they can still be lost in-flight.

If the EC still exists and was not unanchored, then working as intended.
