edit: i should have posted this in new citizens section - appologies

Hi,

in the skill training interface, i noticed next to the skills that are not yet training have a time that is grey.

Can someone please clarify to me what the grey time next to the skills represents?

im assuming it means the max time if you have the correct attributes for those skills in the remap.

In the Training Queue section, the first skill should be counting down, and the next skills should be greyed out; the greyed out time is how long each will take to train, given your current attributes.

In the My Skills section right above the training queue, the times that are displayed (greyed out) are how long it would take to train the next square / next level in each skill, if you drag it to the queue. Also, given your current attributes.

For remaps, you can typically split the skills into 2 categories:

- Int/Mem skills: support skills (navigation, engineering, armor, shields, targeting, electronics, scanning, rigging), neural, industry skills

- Per/Wil skills: ships, weapons (guns, missiles, drones)

The first year as a newbie will have you train all sorts of skills from all categories, so it's best to save your remaps and just leave it as is, all attributes equal. After that, you'll typically be able to focus on training a whole bunch of the int/mem skills to 5 because they are prerequisites for ships, then training per/wil skills to get T2 weapons and various T2 ships. You have bonus remaps if you don't want to wait a full year for each.

thanks for replying ;)

I have no issues understanding the remaping, skills and attributes etc. just the difference with grey time shown in the my skills section that is greyed out, when added to the active training que it then changes ( increases )

level 4 to 5 - Example: Capcitor Management --> in grey 7d 13h 41 min

when added to the active training que, the time then jumps to

level 4 to 5 - Capcitor Management 9 days 21h 20mins

the skill in question has the max primary and secondary remap intel & mem, so i can't see what's effecting the jump in time. why would it say 7 days then jump to 9 days when added to the active skill que.

is that the time listed inline with the skill or at the bottom of the window. The time at the bottom is the total skill queue length.

inline time on the untrained non active skills.

( inactive, not training ) level 4 to 5 - Example: Capcitor Management --> in grey 7d 13h 41 min

when added to the active training que, the time then jumps to

( Active top of training que ) level 4 to 5 - Capcitor Management 9 days 21h 20mins

the skill in question has the max primary and secondary remap intel & mem, so i can't see what's effecting the jump in time. why would it say 7 days then jump to 9 days when added to the active skill que. trying to understand why 2 days are added

I can't say that I know the solution to your problem OP, but I'll throw in my two cents. Please try to be appreciative of the people posting in this thread to help you, they have no reason to really, so if you want to act unfriendly you can expect not to get much help.

You could always workout manually how long the skill should take to complete and compare with the two grey times shown. If it works out as the shorter time then you're somehow earning less SP than the game expects. Actually it could even be that you've switched jump clones and the preview is still using your implant boosted stats.

This post brought to you by CCP's alpha forum alt initiative. Playing the eve forums has never come cheaper.

Worst case log a ticket with CCP, only so much the forums can do.
