Graphical indication of damage done (with fancy example gif)

So, I was in a fleet fight the other day, and I was thinking "Gee, I wish I could see exactly how much damage I'm applying to this guy"
Solution? Show a highlighted segment of the damage bar when I land a shot.

The point here is to directly show the chunk you take out of your opponent's 'health' in comparison to other people applying damage. That way you can see exactly what impact you're having in an engagement.

Not particularly tactically useful, but it would help to see your impact in bigger fights. Maybe take away that little feeling that you're not having an impact in fleet combat.

this is a bad idea because it requires change grr ideas now imagine how much bugfixing ccp could do with their time instead of adding in useless feature to help nullbear ratters? also just look at the log messages or is that too hard grr ccp eve is about risk stop taking risk away so wow players can participate in the sandbox

Seriously? Have none of you ever looked through the options for the combat log? You can turn a lot of stuff off so that you only see what you need to see, such as your hits and misses while leaving out enemy misses.

Use the tools already instead of asking for more.

what he's asking for is a visual representation of the % of the damage the hostile just took, not the hard stats.
you could be hitting a target for 2k per hit and be seeing large chunks removed from a hostile. but that 2k happens to only be 2% so you would only see a tiny amount of hit showing your hit out of the full hit that it received.

its a UI improvement that most people would enjoy seeing

yeah i agree 99% nullbear ratters asking for safer themepark construction in the sandbox grr forums why can't they just be happy with their stone tools???

i can see this becoming terribly confusing and unhelpful on active rep ships. Particularly when reps and damage happen at the same or almost the same time

Because once it is implemented you will than have people just watching the bars and getting closer or whatever to do more damage not seeing either what is happening to them or bother flying....not that people fly much in fleets when the ball forms up.

In a fleet fight it simply does not matter what percentage of the damage each pilot is doing, the only thing that matters is the total damage done and when will the ship explode so we can move on to the next and we get that from the current indicators.

If you are in a fleet but you are not doing a large enough percentage of the total damage done are you going to disengage and move on to shoot a different ship? I think not so again what use is there to having this information?

As the game stands and for the time I've spent in it, UI upgrades would be nice, but there are way to many issues right now with the current UI and game that, sometimes playing just becomes a nightmare.

Great idea - IMO, EVE isn't ready for it. They really need to improve the load times for many of the windows, and probably figure out a way to cache more data to the client so it helps those load times.
The back ground download was suppose to make it so you could keep your install base smaller, but then you can end up with lag changing systems. I would much rather have something that would cache my industry job and market data in the background after I log in, so instead of like a 30-60 sec delay from opening the market or industry window, I only see like a 5-10 sec delay and it would update the info as I moved about New Eden.
