Beginner wormhole explorer looking for advices

Hi all,

returned in october after a 5-years-long break, I am enjoying exploration a lot.

I learned to scan, the hacking minigame and I also enjoyed the high sec combat site.

In the christmas holiday I decided to give wormhole exploration a try.

So I fitted a disposable Heron to do relic and data sites, scanned a wormhole and entered.
And I enjoyed it!

I'm loving the thrill to explore in a lawless system, even if most of the sites I found have sleepers guarding them.
I was also podded one time, but who podded my was very kind and teahed me to make safe spots and some other tricks to survive in wormholes.

Now I want to get my hand dirty on wormhole combat sites, and I'm looking for advice, cheap ships and fits to try and learn (and die).
I would like them cheap because I'm not rich, I'm still learning and I'm sure i will lose a bunch of them.

I will mostly try to scan c1-c3 wormholes (not yet sure about how to identify them), enter them, find some combat sites, clear them and go back in high sec.

I'm trained in caldari and gallente ships up to battlecruisers (including AF and covops), minmatar frigates, mostly sheld tanking (I can armor tank with some struggle) and I can use t2 missiles up to heavy, t2 drones and t2 small projectile.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It shows a good start on what to bring in dps etc

You might consider joining a WH corp. There is no quicker way to learn the immersion.

Drakes and VNI's will be your bread and butter with your skill set.

That is a pretty good resource. Thanks

As far the OP as concerned, The Drake is not too expensive and can do C1 and C2 sites with ease. Shield Regen with HAM or HM. Otherwise maybe the Gnosis with active shield or armor to taste.

For C1 only you could use a T1 Cruiser, for C3s there are not very many budget solo options. Due to the 800+ Tank (less if you speed/sig tank it but there are webs and nuets so you still need at least 300-400 tank) required you are sort of stuck with Hacs/T3 cruisers/Pirate cruisers/Command ships or BS.

This is good advice

Basically, here's what you'll need to do each class of WH site solo:

C1 - T2 fit cruiser or battlecruiser with solid skills (caracal is probably your most basic entry, after that, myrmidon, drake, hurricane and prophecy are all solid choices)

C2 - T2 fit battlecruiser, certain Heavy Assault Cruisers, or blingy cruisers (Drake is probably you're best overall choice here, but also myrm is good)

C3 - Basics - faction fit gila, completely tanked drake (will be PAINFULLY slow), normal - T2 fit t3 cruiser (Tengu and Legion are best overall choices, with tengu being the best by a mile), T2 fit rattlesnake (either passive regen, like the drake, or active can be done as well)

C4 - Faction Fit Rattlesnake, T2 Fit marauder

C5 - Deadspace Fit Marauder, Deadspace++ fit Rattlesnake, Carrier (NOT a nullsec ratting fit)

C6 - Capital ships (only under certain conditions though)

You definitely can do C1 sites in a solo T1 Cruiser with passive T1 shield tank, specially T1 logistics (due to better cap regen).

Fit core purgers 1 as rigs, 3x or 4x Shield Power Relay on lows and Shield Extenders on mids. Your fitting window should display more than 140hp/sec passive regen.

Other people have responded to the bulk of your questions but I just wanted to let you know that you can identify a wormhole's class visually (assuming you have the shader quality set to at least medium):
