Bear in mind that PLEX enter the game because someone purchased them from CCP with real money and sold them on the in-game market for ISK. They leave the game if destroyed, redeemed for game time or converted to Aurum.

If more people want to use PLEX to pay for game time than want to sell them for ISK to finance in-game projects, the price of PLEX will rise. This is a difficult situation for newer players. If you've been playing the game for a few years and chosen an occupation where you can make decent income, a billion ISK is pocket change, there is no way new players can compete for a limited supply. PLEXing your account is not something you should plan on doing your first year in the game. Build some capital and build a business that generates a steady stream of income doing something you actually enjoy.

Once you have 15-20 billion sitting in your wallet and nothing better to do with it, by all means redeem one each month to extend your account. My rule of thumb is I expect my wallet to have more at the end of the month than the beginning - if I can PLEX my account and still achieve that, I will. Otherwise - paying 40 cents a day to play the game is not a financial burden.

I totally agree with Do Little here. I just wanted to add that I've met a few people over the years who came to this came with the intent to PLEX from day 31. None of them lasted.

As mentioned before, playing the game to grind out a plex, especially as a new player with lower SP, would lead you to burnout.

However, that being said, the best way as a new player to get enough isk for a plex is exploration through wh/nullsec.

I recommend you you join a crew that you enjoy playing with, and simply try to pay the sub with RL money, and enjoy the game instead of turning it into a job.

Core skills right off the bat. They affect every ship you fly regardless of what it is. As you move into more advanced or niche ships, the fitting often gets tighter and tighter to take advantage of the hull bonuses. So those core fitting skills really pay off at V. The same of the Nav tree- whether it's aligning a hauler faster or keeping an orbit on some poor fool fighting over sov- it pays to get the most out of any hull.

Cloaking. It's a handy skill.

Then it depends on what you plan to do. That will often dictate ships or lines of ships which then shape your skill plan.

Think about how other races' might synergize with skills you already have. For example Hybrid weapons are shared between Gallente and Caldari. Armor tanking between Amarr and Gallente....that can be used to branch out into other race's ship lines without having to 'start from scratch' each time.

Lastly think about where you want to end up. This is why I always suggest core skills up front...because by the time you get to this point, you might want to do something else in Eve and core skills will serve you no matter what.

Alright, ignore the plex part, I just want to know what I should do so I don't waste time, or how I can get some ISK before my times up.

Join a good corp. They will hold your hand, provide opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable, and provide a fallback if you screw up.

That said, Eve is a game of exploration and experimentation. There is no such thing as wasting time, even spining in station can be productive.

Don't worry at this point about maximizing returns. First you need to find at least one income stream you find enjoyable. This usually involves trying as many different methods as possible.this is not time wasted even if you choose another stream because now you will have a better understanding of how the other stream relates to eve. This can be important later.

If you have already chosen a stream then maybe we can help you progress from alpha to omega benefita smoothly.

For now, unless you are already hitting the skill caps, then the only major benefit from going omega is the faster skill train times
