Seeking Participants for study on the community and culture of EVE

Hello,

I am an undergraduate researcher at a University in the US. I am currently conducting ethnographic research on the culture and community of virtual worlds. At the moment I have looking into EVE Online. I have created an account and dabbled a bit with the game itself to try to give myself a better understanding of how everything works but now I am seeking people to interview.

I can provide information to prove I have nothing malicious intended, I just wish to hear about this world from the members of it. If you are willing to talk with me in-game just send me a message here and we will try to get in contact.

This has been done before. You should know that in all the cases I have seen CCP has been kind enough to pin these threads to increase visibility. So you have nothing to lose by contacting CCP and asking them for some help as well. At the very least you can get your thread pinned for increased visibility.

Put up an online questionnaire. There are a lot of simple to use sites that provide online survives. n does matter Big smile

The Eve community and questionnaires. That's probably a whole field of study in and off itself. Make sure to include "Checkbox" and maybe "Potato" as options if you make one.

As far as the original question is concerned, I'm down. Name a time, place and choice of weapons, and we can talk.

EVE is partly a game about psychopaths and being mean one way to play it.
But it is not the only way and other players are successful with friendship and team effort.
But I admit the psychos stick out more and get the funnier headlines.

You have a typo, "I just wish to here" instead of "hear"

I like online worlds, they show how tribal we are. I don't spend much time in game so I'd be unable to chat.

Views and opinions about what the culture of this game is, are different from person to person, or more like levels of players.

Noobs and illiterate players will never be able to identify the true culture of eve, they will just tell you their opinion based on their ignorance.

And to put it in perspective, maybe only 1% of people posting on these forums can give you an accurate answer.
The players living an eve culture don't post on these dead end rat's nest called eve forums, infected by deceased mentality that is far from eve culture.
