o/ Hey there

First of all, please don't decapitate me because of my suggestions. They are just some random ideas that came to my mind while playing eve.

Temporary environmental events in K - Space:
I would like to get some random temporary system-events. I thought of something like sun-eruptions which have effect to your shield-efficiency and the accuracy of the local (just how many people are in there, but no names for example), increase the damage from weapons, or something similar to that. It would be (mostly) physically correct and very exciting i think. (duration of this events should not be too long) It is important that they do not get annoying, they should also give you a benefit for the struggles. (similar to the WH - Environmental effects but not that strong)

Rework of asteroid belts
The next suggestion is about the current asteroid-belts. At the moment they are not really belts. It would be great if they get longer and wider. Some could even go around the whole planet, like the rings of saturn. The space currently is a bit too empty...
(The current ore deposit-anomalies should be relocated near planets or moons, because it's a bit unrealistic that there is a deposit with a 100km diameter constantly floating in the middle of nowhere.)

Drone animations

Now, lets talk about drones. It would be great if they had animations. They should not fire out of a single gun in an 360° angle around themselves. They should strafe, do maneuvers and their weapons should get a real fire animation (recoil). Also there should be undocking and docking animations, so the drones do not simply pop up in space anymore. You could use the existing dronebays at some of the ships, or make some locks.

Drone fitting
Another cool feature for drones would be to fit them. Jepp, new micro sized modules for drones. So you could make a hornet drone with rockets, or give them an afterburner instead of a MWD... So you could modify the drones for the purpose you need them. ---> special E-War drones are no longer necessary because you can build everything out of the same hull (same goes for maintenance bots)

Dynamic sites
Well, this one is rather old, but i thought of that too. There should be more different types of sites, or random sites. So no more "Spawn-Layouts". PvE needs to get a bit more challenging, risky and interesting.

NPC fleetbattles
My last suggestion would be S - L scale NPC vs NPC fleetfights in which you can help one of the two fighting groups. For your assistance you will get LP or special points for every kill / retrieved item, which can be excanged into faction modules from the... uhm jeah faction you helped. I think this could be very interesting and another fun PvE thing to do. You could also combine it with PvP in the Low-, or 0.0 - Sec (I really don't know if the current factionwars-mechanic already has some sort of NPC vs NPC fights). The new AI seems just right for something like that, because they also interact with the player (Remote Rep)

I think thats it. So, please tell me what you think. My suggestions aren't that important for the game to be fun, but I'd love to see them, or something similar to them in eve :-)

1a. I have always been a big fan of the idea of "environmental effects." A little damage here, a little de-buffing there. Nothing truly crippling, but can give a little "edge" to certain people in some cases (example: being in an asteroid belt will cause you to take 1% damage for every km traveled... unless you are in a mining barge, in which case you are a immune to such effects).

I will diverge from your proposal though and say that they should not be random and not include buffs of any kind.


2a. The DEVs talked about this years ago (see: "Comet Mining") but for whatever reason they stopped talking about it and let the subject die.
Methinks there are some technical issues that they want to resolve before they make any more mention of it again (as the DEVs do have a history of "failure in expectation management")

Also... the astronomy buff in me wants to correct you on Saturn. That isn't an "asteroid belt" that makes up the rings. That is more of an "ice field" with the individual particles ranging from dust-sized to softball-sized.
Real asteroid belts are more scattered (like... the closest distance between rocks will be anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand km) and don't really orbit planets the same way moons do.

3a. Meh. As long as the "Launching Drones" graphic does not prevent me from fielding and attacking in 2-3 seconds I am apathetic to this one.

4a. I think "Drone Fitting" will simply be more complexity for the sake of complexity.
It will also create a divide between younger, poorer players who will have trouble affording the extra mods for drones versus the older, richer players who can afford to min/max.

5a. Have you tried Wormholes?
Also take into consideration that PvE content (regardless of how complex or "difficult" it is) is generally consumed and mastered in a fraction of the time it takes to design and implement it.
The DEVs know this and so they design PvE content to be more of a catalyst for conflict between players (because Player on Player conflict is the content that just "keeps giving").

6a. No to NPC fleet battles. It is a distraction from (or even a way to avoid) the real content; other players.
Case and point: Faction Warfare complexes used to have dozens, even HUNDREDS of NPCs that you would have to fight / avoid while you "captured the 'flag.'"
Unfortunately... as soon as a hostile player entered the complex, the player facing down the NPCs would have bug out (because 1 person vs 1 person + dozens of NPCs is not exactly conducive to a "good fight").
The reverse would happen as well. One player would sit in a "cloud" of NPC and just wait out the timer... with no one outside willing to deal with both the NPCs and a player.
So, during the Faction Warfare revamp, all but one token NPC was removed (to prevent outright farming of Loyalty Points).
This has lead to more fights and more dynamic forms of warfare.

I can see your point. I would like to have at least some new interesting things to see and explore in the systems of eve, because there is nothing very special you could find in the very most of the systems currently.

With that sentence i ment that the asteroids could go completely around a planet in a circle, just like the rings from saturn do. I didn't meant those rings to be asteroids ^^

1. Space "weather" would be interesting and shouldn't be too difficult given that similar effects are already generated in wormholes and the new effect generators on Titans.

2. I like the idea of asteroids that move, orbiting some celestial. It would probably put an end to AFK mining!

3. I expect drones will receive the same treatment as fighters, where you launch and control them as a squadron. This will give you more control while reducing the server workload.

4. The developers could create connections and interdependencies between missions or other PVE content so what happens in your site depends on what some other player does in their site. They can also use procedural generation so each site is unique and the new AI they've been experimenting with for the last couple of years is a lot smarter. That said, if 6 month old players expect to be able to successfully complete level 4 missions, they aren't going to present much challenge to a 2 year old player. PVE content is basically a source of income - this is reflected in the career missions "cashflow for capsuleers" and a stepping stone to PVP.

5. I believe CP will create more opportunities to interact with NPCs in open space - like the NPC mining fleets, drifters, etc... rather than anomalies and mission pockets - it adds interest and variety to day-to-day activity and makes the universe more alive.

1. Not sure it's possible to just impact a single system. The only other environmental effects like this are incursions and w-space effects, which impact constellations. Also, how long do you see these temporary effects lasting?

2. If belts were used and mined out more, or there were even large quantities of miners in the belts, I'd agree that the physical dimensions of the belts should be tweaked. As it stands, however, this would pretty much be a waste of dev time.

3. Why spend dev time on something people are going to look at once, then show to a friend maybe twice, then ignore for the entirety of the rest of their time in EvE?

4. Drones are in a good place right now, balance wise. Let's not **** this up by adding more variables to them.

5. I read that part as "I'm too scared to explore dangerous space, so CCPlz bring all that other content that isn't where I am to me." Simply stop farming the same system and there's more diversity in PvE.

6. Sure, why not? FW could always use new farming grounds for me to hunt in. Though you need to make sure the FW people need to use blingy pirate battleships to run these sites.

I like most of these. It would really be nice to have asteroid "belts" rather than asteroid "blobs."

Drone animations would just be an unnecessary burden on the servers, though I would not be opposed to a simple fitting option. I would add the caveat that all the drones you deploy have the same fitting.

Didn't they try doing NPC fleet battles with the Drifter incursions?

I also like the environmental ideas, but agree that they should be short-term, and no buffs.

In what way? Animations happen in the client, not the server.
