I Don't Like Missions, But Love Mining

Hi,

Whenever I have seen people asking if mining is. A good way to make is, people have been saying no and it gets boring quickly and they tell them to run missions. I have tried missions, lots of them and I really hate them. I hate fighting npcs in any game, even this game. I hate fighting NPCs I just can't stand it. I love mining, I mine all day and I really love it. Is this weird? Am I the only one?

It takes all types, man. There are definitely other people that enjoy mining, there are entire corporations built on it, you should join one.
Always fit the best tank you can, and have a plan to gtfo.

Have fun man,
o7 to those of you that wage war on the space rocks. Some of those suckers sure get huge.

A group of space rocks rode into town when I was 7 years old and killed my family.
Since that day i've murdered every space rock unfortunate enough to cross my path and I've never looked back.

I've personally have never been good at PvP, and try to run when it happens. (I do enjoy the thrill of it, just total suckage.) I tend to try different concepts, and have settled on a Mining, Salvaging, and Industry. As Nikea said, takes all kinds. If it wasn't for the Miners, the PvPers wouldn't have Ammo, or Ships.

I loved how I started mining, then multibox mining, and then it got me into the markets and PI. I had me a typical mining spreadsheet with timetables to see where I can improve on, how much time I spent travelling and how, if i just added one more mining account, I would be able to produce this and that within a timeframe. And of course the ISK tables..

Then I started missioning, and that was kinda like mining as well. And the direct injection of ISK wasn't anything to scoff at as well, plus the LP store was an awesome new 'mining resource' for me.

Now, I have my 3 Orcas and a buncha barges mothballed.

The end.

TL;DR Combat skills can go > FW, hisec missioning, incursions, exploration, null content etc.. a flexible skillset. Mining skills are too rigid imho and kinda deadend. That and I hate how the mining scene shifted to cater nullsec.

Not a huge fan of missions myself.

Some years ago I used to mine. Found it relaxing at the time. I've since decided that industry and exploration are better for me. But I do see the appeal.

So long as you're enjoying yourself, you're *winning* at EVE.

This, pure and simple.

The above message presents my opinions on the topic at hand. If there is a conflict between my views and reality, consider reality to be correct until proven otherwise.

Theres different types of mining you can try

Hisec belt mining
lo/nulsec belt mining
gas cloud mining
anomaly mining
fleet mining

some work better with the frigates
some work better with the barges
some are a bit more dangerous than the others
some are better done with other people

In my third time resubscribing to eve... I'm trying to cycle through several things so I don't get bored focusing on one thing.

I run some lvl 4's with SOE for a bit because I want another Astero.
Then I go exploring in low/null sec for a bit.
Then I decide I want a VNI so grind standings with a Gallente corp by mssioning.
I play with the VNI a little... get bored and do some mining.
Then I mine in lowsec.
Then I think "mining is boring" and stop.
Use minerals to create a tristan and get it blown up in FW space.
Update some station trade orders I had let sit for a few weeks and station trade actively for a couple of days.
Collect Datacores from research and try to invent some stuff.
Stuff doesn't sell.
Go back to missioning for SOE because asteros are cool.
repeat.

Tell you what, I hate mining. To me it's boring, metaphorically and literally.

But it's not to say anything about people who enjoy it. You like it? Do it. My friends like it too, so you are not the only one.

I started off mining and enjoyed it as well. I found it relaxing and a great semi-afk activity.

Be sure to try ice mining and mining missions. You might also investigate ninja ore and gas mining in WH's with a Prospect. Or null mining in a corp (then you can decide if you like corp politics).

I know how you feel, I'm in a Mining corp with Miners in the Name and i hate mining lol. I prefer Anomalies and DED complexes but still sometimes do missions.

There are others in my corp that don't PVE at all and jsut do PVP. I've even known people in EVE who do NOTHING but Haul stuff from one place to another (real space truckers lol) and enjoy the hell out of it.. People are strange, EVE is a strange game for people like us.

So what Jenna is saying, embrace your weirdness because EVE is the universe of weird.

It's a game for you to find whatever enjoyment you wish for. Whether it be blowing up others, discovering lost caches of technology or clearing the spaceways of those pesky rocks that threaten the lives of your fellow capsuleers. As long as it makes you Big smile that's all that matters

Personally, I'm not a miner, but on the other hand I don't quite 'get' all the hate directed at them. Perhaps it was the advent of afk mining and bot mining that generated it (not sure), but my point is, without miners, there would be no ships, no hardware, no structures, no anything. So the hate to me is somewhat irrational, although I guess hate towards bot miners is fine and understandable.

At any rate, if you get bored with standard mining, you might consider sneaking into nullsec and wormhole areas and mining there. I did do some of that back in the day, and considered it almost like PvP in a way.

It's very easy to understand actually : many miners (called as carebears) request modificaitons that would reduce competition in Eve. eg no gank in HS.
Since competition is what makes Eve fun for non-carebears, those people consider that carebears basically want to kill Eve - because they don't play the competitive, thus specific, part of Eve.

I mine

I kill NPCs

I PVP (I suck at PVP btw)

Don't really run mission that much because high-sec scares me more than low or null.

I mine to build cheap T1 ships that I can throw at the better pvpers. Yes, me throwing a ship is probably more effective than me trying to shoot them, but at least I undock with a purpose.

I kill NPCs to make good isk that I can use to buy the mods to fit on the cheap ships that I throw at the better pvpers.

I buy BPOs that I can use when I mine to build the cheap ship which I fit with the mods bought from killing NPCs so I can throw it all at the better pvpers.

Etc...

Love missions, hate mining. Good thing EVE offers variety for different playstyles...

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.
