An idea to make this game more playable and appealing (achivements)

Corporations can give our medals to employees that will show up in their bios. I think its a good way Eve has incorporated achievements, leaving them to be player defined.

Actually the basis of the OP's idea is good, just needs to be refined a bit.

Player corporations already have the ability to give out Medals to players which are displayed in the character info box.
I'm not sure but I think Factional Warfare also gives out Medals.

That's about it.

Hell, I remember when I completed the SoE Epic Arc the first time it was installed into the game, I was very disappointed. I was expecting a much better ending and reward. I remember thinking I should of at least got a Medal to show off in my character info box. I mean come on, this was an EPIC ARC. All the Epic Arcs should give out Medals for completion. Hell, for that matter, all of the Career Agents should also give out a Medal for completion.

I remember completing a mission for Concord Agent Christer Fuglesang and the reward was an implant and a Medal.

There's also some Cosmos Agents that give out Medals as part of the mission reward.

There's also other Medals that are gained for completing various PvE activity's in Eve.

I think at one time CCP had the intention to make those Medals able to show in the Character info box but somehow the idea kinda got sidetracked.

Way ahead of you (or are we tied). Still achievements would be a great addition, sandbox or not.

If anyone ever looks at you and says,_ "Hold my beer, watch this,"_  you're probably going to want to pay attention.

Called kill mails. Also your corp can give you awards, so can FW.

Then they could offer people free NEX stuff & a copy of their latest game provided you lock yourself in to a contract with them.

We are well into the second page on this thread and nearly all replies have been troll posts. The EVE Online community deserves a medal for this historic achievement.

HAHAHA so much frustration over WOW, you guys are jealous caus few ppl play your game?! ha right?! of course I'm right.

Well here, don't choke on this, ACHIEVEMENTS EXISTED WELL BEFORE WORLD OF WARCRAFT you mindness zombinooobs! If you had a clue about what you were talking you'd knew that.

And yeah the guys at blizzard does a lot more money then you do, but we all knew that already.

OP I 200% agree with you. Achievements are the kind of things that get you attached to your char, time investment and stuff. And character attachment is one of those things that makes you stick around or come back again to a game when you are a MMO player.

But seriously when you see all the nay sayers on this forum I come to wonder how old the average users are? 80 years old?

Time to unplug the machine and let the good guys move forward!

Eve has miners?!

nope, we are actually scared that "our" game might attract an even more mainstream audience than it already does.

Of course nobody wants EVE to become another Darkfall but I think (hope) I am not alone in not wanting it to become another WoW either.

A lot of "filters" that made people quit EVE early on have been removed during the last few years and I don't think EVE has become a better place as a result of it.

WoW is a fine game for what it does (I actually played WoW and raided tier12 this summer while I had cancelled my EVE accounts over monoclegate) but I wouldn't want EVE to attract the same audience as WoW.

Currently one of the biggest remaining "filters" in EVE is that the game doesn't tell you what to do. There are no quest lines to follow, no achievements and titles to grind for, no PvE challenges, no fun in "leveling" another alt, ...
A person who is unable to set their own goals will find the game dead boring and quit after the first few weeks - and that's a thing I really like.

I really like Lego. It was the favorite toy of my childhood. When I started playing with it, Lego was very sandbox-y.
"Here are some general purpose bricks, now go and build something with it."

In contrast Playmobil was a lot more theme-park like - much more detailed models and accessories but no real way to build things on your own. You don't buy a bag of bricks, you buy a police station which will always stay a police station because it is one single piece of plastics.

However, many children appeared to be completely lost with Lego. They didn't know what to build and what to play because nobody told them and they somehow didn't know how to set up their own goals and stories.

So as market-share slipped Lego became a lot more themepark-like and when I walk past a toy-store today most of the Lego kits seem to be quite frankly crap - very specialized items, licensed movie franchises, a lot of flashy and "cool" things with very little re-usability past their intended purpose. I have two cousins in primary school and the Lego kits they own and the way they play with them is fairly depressing.
However, I hear that this shift has helped Lego tremendously in overcoming the financial crisis it suffered ca. 2000-2005 (with franchises like Star Wars and Indiana Jones being extremely successful).

Maybe I am getting old but I wish Lego had sticked to the sandbox of general purpose bricks (and accepted having to down-size its business if necessary) instead of marginalizing that aspect of gameplay in favor of the themepark.
I don't want to EVE to become like this and the only way to prevent this from happening is by keeping the themepark audience a mile away from the game.

first off sorry for poor english , as i didnt get any responses when i posted in proper section... let me post it here

Tell me your opinions about this:

Simple add in game achievements!

Once you complete achivements you will get some form of medal or/or some kind of reword.Il make couple of examples :

Razor : Achievement Description: Destroy 100 enemy pods . Reward: medal player can put into medal tab under players info and or lets say 1000 skill points he can distribute anywhere .
Slayer : Achievement Description : Destroy 100 enemy pods : Reward : Reward: medal player can put into metal tab under players info and or lets say 1000 skill points he can distribute anywhere .

now you can put achievements for killed POS, POS structures , Station take overs.... SOV takeovers , each next will take more kills than last one and get better reward. Example agin 100 kills, 500 kills , one thousand kills... 2500 kills or 10 towers destroyed. 100 towers destroyed ... 10 system takeovers... etc etc

With this people would like to PVP more ... they will get sligh boost to SP (one can get i dont know 100 000 SP more each month MORe than a player who is not active just clickick skills)

This way player who ACTUALLY play the game not just click the skils will get slightly advantage (not a big one but still rewording one)
and he will for sure get will to play more game

What about PVE guys ? well add PVE achieevements aswell

Achievement for achiving certain faction standing... kill 10 , 100 of 10/10 plexes...
Achivement for oficier hunting : example Tuvan's nightmare :Achievement Description: Destroy 5 Tuvan's ships . Reward: medal player can put into metal tab under players info and or lets say 1000 skill points he can distribute anywhere .
and so on... Even Achivements for incursions , Factional warfare....

You guys(if i can you can also) come up with thousands of this achievements if not more and trust this will make game more playable. An people will change carriers . You may ask my why ? Well once guy deplete all achivements in high sec he will go to 0.0 to complete those achievements also , thanlowsec... than wh..... than he will try Industry to complete those achievements also . You will revive EvE alot .

You can also put a bonus to complete certain section of achivements : Example:

Oficier hunter: Kill all known Oficiers in known universe: Now reword can be again 10 000 of sp or 100 000 or meybe even some extra increase in Sec Status , or faction standing... what ever.. just make it rewarding an make it people WANT to complete that feat.

What do you think guys ?

p/s those medals would be cool if Person could be able to see them on its shoulder When he WIS

It has been suggested before, also in the wrong forum, and was shot down just as quickly as it was this time. You don't need the game to set achievements for you, you can do that yourself, and everyone else will care just as much about it.

By the way, since we're already talking, do you want to buy a rifter? I've got the cheapest rifters in Metropolis. If you can find a cheaper rifter, buy it!

What's the point?

Introduce achievements in a game where most people have multiple accounts and they'll just farm them, if they could even be bothered.

Next they'll be wanting special rewards for their special achivements. Here have a tabard.

Want an achievement, form a one man corp and give yourself a medal for whatever arbitrary goal you set for yourself.
