Broadcast to ships on grid

You know that feature in some fps games where you can talk on mumble and only the ones around you will hear you. What if there would be an option of some sort to broadcast chat, but instead of local chat window it will appear as a bubble around your ship. This way you could broadcast a message very fast and pretty effective to pilots around you without waiting for them to accept convo or forcing the whole system to read your message (which can be lost very fast in highly populated systems) and will appear only to one's on grid.

I've read this idea before. Would be nice to have.

That would be a nice mechanic for wormhole engagements...or talking to clients next to the pleasure hub.

Would a slash command with local chat fit the bill here?

the above mentioned dumpster fire aside this is actually not a bad idea,
might give eve-voice some relevance.
