My Eve Story [Reddit/Google Docs] (5+ Years of History)

So I made my first post to Reddit today. It sucks, so it's also on Google Docs.

Shouting your name into the air to show the world that you exist is a scary thing to do, but I've done it (. I wish I could do it with a whisper, but this is Eve, all or nothing. I've already received several comments, some upvotes, and several mails in game, and I appreciate everyone's feedback. Dealing with loss is something Eve has taught me, but the biggest life lesson I've had to learn is that even friendships are temporary, and not even a Best Friend of 10+ years is strong enough to survive in the fires of Eve Online.

So, if you want a good story, please give my posts a read. There's 66k words, and it contains nearly 5 year of history all crammed into one post. This past year has been very hard on me because of the betrayel of good friends and such losses. But, with these posts, I wash my hands of 2016, the friends who have back stabbed me, and look forward to a new, stronger future with new friends and new enemies.

I'm probably going to get trolled by my enemies, but that's okay. It's content, and moderators might get involved because those guys get really heated and they like to break all the rules they can just to get an edge. Hopefully everyone stays civil, but I'm past all that. I'm moving on. Consider that chapter of my life closed.

tl;dr for My Eve Story: My high school best friend of 10+ years told me to kill myself because of Eve Online. Eve is more important to him than real friendships, and I sometimes wish I never started playing this game.

Thank you for reading,

That sucks - but - better to find out who he really is through a game rather than something that affects you badly irl. EvE did you a favor.

Thank you for your effort! I know it is a lot to read, but it's hard to give a good over-view on 5+ years of experience in this game. So much can happen in a single day that to compress 5 years into a document is quite a challenge! I spent several weeks working on this document, researching my own past, reliving old memories, talking with old friends, and going over old mails.

Eve truly is an amazing game, and I love my time in it. There's a lot of headache and heartache, but it comes along with the unique environment that it provides. I'm glad I was able to figure out who my friend really was in the medium of a video game, rather than in real life. It still really sucks to lose such a great friend, but some things just cannot be avoided.

Again, thank you for your time spent reading! I know most people will look at that and say "NOPE TLDR" but I personally feel it is a little bit of treasure. Everyone has their story in this game, and every story is worth reading (or skimming at least).

Some people want to feel better than they really are worth, and "showing others their place" is a very primitive way of expressing that.

Some can be under influence that here they can do anything, freeing experience starts to develop into a freakish egoism, selfstroking the ego. "I am the best con man, thief, director, pirate, I am the best in this band of meek, unrelatable pilots, I am someone more important and if you cant deal with it, its your problem, not mine".

Meanwhile composition is still mainly H2O, the puddle of water we started in is bigger than anyone of us. I would say it is even more important.

I feel like there are definitely some valid points there. My "friend" was always a one-upsman, and even joined the Marine Corps just so he could one-up me again. I never really played into his hands as far as reciprocating the constant one-upping. I'd introduce him to something and he'd go at it so hard until he was better than me, and then he'd beat me and I go "okay..." I think ht probably resented that fact. Eve is the last tie to one another we have, and even though he cannot influence me directly, he'll still try indirectly. He's always had more 'power' than me in Eve (and over me) because he's a bully and people seem to really like that sort of thing. Or, if not like it, respect it enough to go to bat for him at just his word. Still, the rest of us eventually said "enough is enough" and that's where we are now. Mortal enemies.

It's really distressing how some people change as they get older. It sucks really. But what can we do? Upgrade your medical clone and move on, is what I say.
