industry with compressed ore vs minerals

Hi all,
I got a question, after a bit of research and calculations it seems that compressed ore is more expensive than minerals and not by a bit.
Now, I'm into industry and I live in a w-space. So it is much easier logistics for me to haul compressed ore. But when I calculate the margin between using minerals vs compressed ore the differences are big... really BIG.

Am I correct?
I'd be glad for suggestions.

Thanks!

What are your refining skills like? Because you're competing with people with really good skills, implants, and doing their refining in Citadels, with T2 rigs.

Refining V Refining Efficiency V and for most of the ores IV
But im not trying to compete. this is more of a w-space logistics question

The competition is on the price. Minerals are coming out of ores which have been refined. So there's a refine step you have to take into account, when comparing prices.

Or did I misunderstand the margin you meant?

If you're meaning on volume, compressed ore can hit around 20-25 x smaller (iirc. It's been a while since I looked at the numbers)

If you buy your ores in high sec compress them at any hs citadel that offers refining for free... .
Much cheaper but a lot more time hauling ores in high sec.

No local in null sec would fix everything!

It comes down to easy of use, Compressed ore is way easier to transport so it commands a premium.

If you don't mind hauling a lot more just by minerals. If you are mining and exporting export compressed ore.

I think the question is down to this:
I want to run industry in w-space and I don't want to mine. In HS I was buying lots of minerals and pay someone not so big ISK to haul it to my POS.
In w-space it will clearly not work. I can buy compressed ore instead but it looks that for the same amount of minerals that will be extracted from compressed ore I would pay much more than if I was buying minerals.

So does anyone done what I want to do? If so, I'd be happy if you can share your experience/advice.

Thanks.

Set up buy orders and you can pinch a few extra coins out of the compressed ore, otherwise max out your refining skills to make it viable.

Alternately, buy regular ore, compress it and haul the compressed stuff once you have enough and/or the right chain.

That will mean a fair amount of hauling between where you buy the stuff and the citadels you'll be compressing in, but afk hauling with ore in mining areas should be safe enough.
