Hello pilots,

I have heard that you can make quite a good amout of ISK in combatsites, which are in the highsec, and now I want to try it out. I have spend most of my time in exploration, but kinda got a burn-out because I lost alot of items.

The problem I have is, that I don't know anything about combat. I'm playing a caldari character.
Can you guys recommend me some ships/fits? Smile

Thank you for the help!

Did you go thru the career agents?

Since you're Caldari, you have a choice of hybrids or missiles. For Cruisers you could fit a passive take on the Moa or the Caracal. The Moa uses hybrids, and the Caracal uses missiles. You will most likely get more dps out of the Moa.
There are some Navy cruisers you can use, but they may be too expensive for you at this time. You could get into a Gnosis right now if you have the isk, but it would be better to active tank it. It can use either hybrids or missiles, and it has lots of slots. The Gnosis has a large drone bay, but for an Alpha Caldari, your missiles skills suck, (sorry)

Since someone gave one of my Alphas a Gnosis, I will pay it forward and give you one. I will contract one to you if you want it. If you don't want to use it, you could sell it and get something else.

You could Omega for a couple of months, your skills will train twice as fast!

Do you want a Gnosis? How about a Moa and a Caracal? Just let me know here or in game.

Nope, I haven't touched the career agents yet. I will take a look at them tomorrow.

Wow, it would be really nice to have the Gnosis, because it sounds like a solid ship, even though it always feels weird to get things gifted.

Thanks for your help, also happy new year and fly safe.

Gnosis sent.

The career agents will give you isk and some ships as you go thru their training. (Merlins and a Cormorant)

Yeah, probably a little weird, because I don't think it happens much in EVE. Over the years I have helped quite a few new players get on their feet. I ask for nothing in return, except to pay it forward someday.

Have fun, fly safe. (but safe can be boring)

Something like this should work for Cosmic Anomalies and combat sites (DED 1/10 - 2/10).
It is a kiting fit so keep your range in mind and speed up. Repair as needed (not cap stable).
Antimatter, Iridium, Iron should do well enough.

If you have some missile skills, this might work for ratting/anomalies too.
Expect lots of ammo reload time with Rapid Lights, but they shred pretty good.
You can use either the 10MN afterburner or a 50MN microwarpdrive, but your capacitor will drain more quickly.

There are two types of combat sites:

1. Anomalies, that you can see in your Probe Scanner window and can warp to without scanning them down first.

2. DED sites, gated, need to be scanned.

For an Alpha I would recommend level 3 and 4 of the former and level 2-3 of the latter.

With Anoms you get bounties, rather scarce ones, loot (sometimes 2 mil a piece), and a chance to get an Escalation. You could try to get your hand at level 4 (officially unrated) escalations but be careful, some of them, when you warp to them, will drop you right in the middle of the NPCs. Your ship gets webbed, scrammed and dead in 2-3 minutes. Do not try to run a level 5 Escalation alone if you get one. Either get friends or be ready for hours of shooting with lots of warpouts to recharge shields/repair armor.

DED sites can be hit (sometimes) or miss (most of the times). If it is a hit you can get good loot (up to 250 mil isk - in my experience). More often you will get almost nothing or a series of escalations that can either lead to some good loot or be a waste of time.

When you get an escalation do not be lazy and google it. Some nice players used their time to write guides and they will help you a lot.

A very important thing to consider is how far your Core and Support (shields, missiles, rigs) skills are trained. You can loose a poorly trained Caracal in a level 4 anom, or you can run level 4 DED sites if they are at a max (for Alpha) level.

Consider using meta 4 modules instead of meta 1 (use the Compare tool in the module's info panel).

Here is an alternative fitting for Angel sites (Minmatar):
