Ice belts - WHERE

I am sure this has been asked time after time but cannot find any information on it.

Yes I am aware that the belts spawn and show up on the scanner but is there any logic to it?

I have looked on Dotlan and visited the systems that shows ice belts possible but nothing.

Can anyone shed light on where these usually spawn in The Forge?

Are you checking your system scanner? As I recall they appear there as anomolies, not on the overview.

(I could be wrong. I don't really look for ice, but that's my memory of it.)

Check DOTLAN.

The systems they spawn in are fixed. When an ice belt spawns it is there until mined out. New one will spawn 4 hours later.

Which also indicates the most important thing: get the hell out of The Forge. The further you are from Jita the more likely it will be that you find ice.

One of the better places to find ice is the north-west corner of Everyshore where you have 5 systems with 8 ice belts in close proximity. http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Everyshore#belts

The ice mining fleets will time the spawns and they usually don't last long. An hour if you're lucky on weekends or holidays. If you play at a time that is inconvenient for EU and US time zone you can sometimes have an ice belt to yourself on a weekday - rare but fun and profitable when it happens.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes I am checking my system scanner but just refuges, Dens etc. etc.

I have no option but to stay in the Forge so moving is not an option.

Does anyone know the names of the systems in The Forge where the belts usually spawn?

Dotlan seems to be out of date too.

Systems with a blue circle around them have ice belts. Dotlan shows ore+ice - Mitsolen, for example has 7 ore belts and 1 ice belt 2 jumps from Jita. To the best of my knowledge, dotlan is up to date - except it still shows some retired agents - I can live with that.

Ice belts will only appear on your scanner during a spawn. In the forge, fleets will be waiting for them and even if you catch the spawn, you'll be lucky to fill your barge before they're gone.

Dotlan is up to date.

If you want to stay in The Forge you can probably just forget about ice mining.

I know of a system that seems to have an active ice field whenever I enter the system, at any time of the day.

I think the reason is nobody would expect it, so everyone ignores it.

You really need to look around.

Dotlan is definately NOT up to date. I know a system, in which, according to Dotlan, should only be 1 ice belt, but there are in fact 3. And that's just 1 system i personally saw, that Dotlan is incorrect. There might be many others out there.

Hentogaira (my spelling may be off). It's about 10 jumps from Jita in The Forge and should have 2 belts, That said... It is a huge Indy hub area. Plenty of space, within Jita market range, ice belts and toner resources, it is crowded. The belts will be mined quickly.

Obe on the other hand... Low sec, near null, decent traffic, bet you can find an untouched belt often and still in The Forge.

Oh and look at the citadels in each system. If there is an ice belt, there is usually a citadel that advertises 54% ice refinery with low tax.
