Command battleships

Hi

with the new command burst era, we are now stuck with a hard choice for command ships : shoot OR boost. That is a major concern for small fleets.

Is there any plan to introduce a new command ship class, for instance a T2 command battleship with enough tank and slots for it to be able to shoot something and boost at the same time ?

That would be nice for small fleets.

Take 4 for an EOS, add a drone link, you are left with one gun :(

Have you tried not expecting a droneboat to boost, shoot and use drones all at once?

That was just an example, the situation is worse for other command ships DPS wise.

If you want that many boosts on one ship you lose your guns. Thats the rule.

You can either spread boosts amongst several command ships or lower the number of boosts, or have fewer turrets. Meaningful choices...

Command boosts didn't change this decision making process - it's always been like this. You fir for maximum boost, max tank, max damage, or some combination of the three.

Personally, I like my Damnation - I get battleship levels of tank with reasonable DPS, and I don't sacrifice any boosts that I care about. And if you fit is for straight up tank and boosts with DPS being a secondary consideration you can get ridiculous levels of EHP out of it, especially with implants. These ships are fine.

Don't discount the Command dessies either. Fast, elusive, and have the OP abilities to over-prop and/or fit microjump field. 50MN with boost, or 10MN with boost and MJF...

Here's an excellent boosting fit for a Vulture: Fit Active Shielding Charge with Shield Harmonizing Charge, and put 250mm railguns in the remaining high slots. You get to keep at least 85% of your DPS but your own personal tank is boosted more than enough to make it worth your while.

I chose the Vulture for the point because if anything it is hurt the most by the slots taken up by command bursts.




I'd love to have command battleships but not because I think for a moment that combat battlecruisers, at either tech level, are inept for the job.

Reaver? What game are you playing where you can take a ship with six highslots, fill four of them with boosters an a fifth with a drone link augmentor, and still have space for six guns?

One turret with tracking bonus and 5 drones with damage bonus. Six guns. And five of them are battleship size.

I think command modules should be limited to one per ship. Then you wouldn't have these perversions of what was meant to be balanced as a command ship.

I dont think we need more ships, we have enough ships roles or or even ships without roles! (Assault Frigates).

Also the same problem will "hit" the Command battleships, they will not have enough high slots for guns. So we back at the same point.

It's not a problem because now we can train them to fit properly by shooting these perversions. Don't want to get primaried as command? Probably you shouldn't be the only command in the fleet.
