Hunting those anomalies that appears on scanners I was able somehow to create an expedition in a galaxy very far awa. Took me abou 1h to finish it safelly and get all the Tier stones on the site. i pretty much destroyed / salvaged everything and even destroyed a few compounds. Then I realized that expedition was still there. Was about 4AM here so I didin't checked if was some sort of bug or the journal will still show it regardless you finish it or not. So that's the question, Expeditions on journal will remain there for the 24h period or is there a trigger to make it disappear earlier from the journal?

It'll be there for 24 hours. I'm not sure what the despawn mechanics are if you warped to it and for some reason didn't finish it. (you were being hunted or something so you couldn't finish the site)

In case you didn't know, these are the sites that potentially drop the faction and deadspace modules and pirate faction ship BPC's. With a little luck, it can be lucrative.

Sites can have an objective that needs to be destroyed (like a Radar Dish, or a Tower) to properly complete and de-spawn. Others can just linger for a while (some drone sites seem to do this). And yet others have timed spawns, so you have to stick around a while.

I suggest googling your sitename/expedition name to see what it is about.

for example: searching "Guristas Scout Outpost"
http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Guristas_Scout_Outpost first result

Or you can just Hardcore it and discover on your own!

Hello and welcome to Eve.

There's 2 types of Exploration sites - Cosmic Anomalies and Cosmic Signatures - that will escalate to expedition.

Cosmic Anomalies don't have to be scanned with probes and when completed will sometimes escalate to a multi-room DED Complex expedition. Upon completion there will not be any more escalations.

Cosmic Signatures need to be scanned with probes and when completed will sometimes escalate to a Deadspace location expedition (1st stage of 4 possible stages). Upon completion that Deadspace location (1st stage) may escalate to another Deadspace location (2nd stage) and when completed may escalate to another Deadspace location (3rd stage) which when completed may escalate to the last and final Deadspace location (4th stage) of the expedition.

All Exploration sites, your ship, drones, MTU, etc can be scanned by probes. Expedition sites can not be scanned by probes, only your ship, drones, MTU, etc in the expedition site can be scanned by probes. When running expeditions in hostile space, best to just go in with your ship, keep watch on D-scan for Combat probes (if some appear warp to various Safe spots), quickly destroy NPC's, get your loot and get out asap.
