Eve's next and long overdue new feature

Ok, so it's probably not next, and knowing my luck, will never happen, BUT! This is definitely needed in eve.

Manual control of spaceships.

If you could hook up a flight stick and actually fly your ship, I would have been playing eve years ago. I remember looking into eve at least five years ago. I was just about to start playing, then I found out there is no way to use your flight stick in eve... So I never downloaded it... Let's be honest, A space game without flight control is stupid,

I understand that when eve came out, most people had crap internet connections, and the servers were crap compared to now, BUT IT'S NOW, RIGHT NOW. Right now the tech world easily allow that. So CCP please make your next expansion include the ability to manually control you ship with a flight stick, or at the least, make corvettes able to be manually flown. It's the next logical addition anyway. You can't go bigger than a titan, and you have every kind of space imaginable, so do the smart thing, make flight sticks work.

You can fly with WASD already.

And do you really want to try to manually fly a ship when you get one input per second?


Also, this is not a space game in which you are playing the role of starbuck, zipping around in a single seat fighter. This is a game in which you are playing the role of Admiral Adama, commanding a ship (admittedly with a direct link to your brain) that is hundreds if not thousands of metres in length with a crew potentially in the tens of thousands.

The game works on 1 second ticks, as such it is highly unlikely to support the kind of real time inputs required to implement joystick support effectively.

To see how bad it would be plug in a gamepad and map it to the current manual controls.

You can get a copy of wing commander for a couple of dollars, and it's still a great game, will let you do space combat with a flight stick. The fact that eve is not about space combat with a flight stick is one of the reasons I like it.
