Are mining permits actually a thing?

CODE. are a pack of morons trying to be relevant led by the clown prince of New Eden who lacks the balls or foresight to actually do anything vaguely impressive. They'll irun like little kids the second you look like fighting back.

Ignore 'em, don't mine around the Uedama/Halaima systems, don't pay their pathetic extortion racket and don't feed their trollish egos.

Interesting. You try to make them look like they are irrelevant, yet you advise people to stay out of their way in the same post. How does that go together?

You also sound quite angry. Are you angry?

Just fly smart; be aware of your surroundings, fly a properly tanked ship, stay out of systems where CODE morons are active and ignore the trollish idiots in the forums.

The New Order exists to bring the benefits of the Code to all of highsec. This is why James 315 was elected the Savior of Highsec by unanimous consent. Each poster in this thread, EVERY ONE, has some version of the message "The New Order exists and will enforce their Code. React accordingly". Even the scoffers who tell the OP to "ignore them" then proceeds to tell him how to act BECAUSE WE EXIST and cannot be safely ignored.

When you undock your ship, the last thing you should consider is "Am I prepared? Is someone waiting out there to kill me?"

Because we are.

Buy a permit. Its required.

Highsec is worth fighting for.

By choosing to mine in New Order systems, highsec miners have agreed to follow the New Halaima Code of Conduct.  www.minerbumping.com

Excellent stuff Bing.

You'll all note that Elite PvPer, chronicler and New Order member Bing Bangboom does not belong to a corporation within the CODE. Alliance. Neither do I and neither do most of the folks out there in Highsec who have designs on your ability to mine, mission and haul irresponsibly and illegally in Highsec.

Whatever you do, you'll never be entirely safe in Highsec; and that's exactly how CCP wants it to be. Even when you're lolling about in station, we're running locates on you, noting your favourite times to be online and gobble James' rocks (sorry 'bout that folks, it just flew off the keyboard), and - thanks to Pirate's Little Helper - what you like to fly; o, all sorts really.

Life in the New Order is wonderful!

Oh, that's a good idea, hey, can anyone give me 300k? I got killed by an ******* and want to run a locator agent on him to get revenge, but the locator wants money. Anyone? Please?

Part of the game I guess. I do wonder how many people have quit the game because of them.

Probably at least one.

Of course, CCP says that players that interact with the sandbox, or are even ganked, are more likely to stay with the game (source: Fanfest talk entitled Using Science to Help Newbros).

So I guess the real question is how many people have stayed with the game because of them? Mining alone, in an asteroid belt for weeks isn't a very compelling gaming experience for a Newbro. I am not sure why so many players want to funnel new players off to such a fate.

Eh?

Look Memphis it's 22.42 - waaaay past my bedtime (not even had my hot chocolate yet) - and frankly, my brain is frazzled. Were you commenting on my piece there?

Locates cost Isk, true; but in the drive to rid HIghsec of bot-aspirant behaviour by using all available forms of information gathering (and a bit of firepower), what's a few measly hundred thousand Isk?

I use Locator Agents more to confirm what are already strong suspicions than as a first resort. And, of course, I never count the cost.

Are we talking about entirely the same thing?

Anyway, good night to all; time for bed (Zebedee - The Magic Roundabout).

The mining permit is only part of following the New Halaima Code of Conduct. It is absolutely required for you to legally mine in New Order territory, but it isn't a license to bot or mine in a bot-aspirant fashion. You still need to respect the other rules which are there not only for the miner's own good, but the good of highsec in general.

There are thousands of miners who have bought a mining permit and follow the Code and thus mine unmolested in highsec. In fact, there is not a single case of a permit holder mining in a compliant manner ever losing their ship to gankers.

You can pay the ludicrously low permit fee (10M/ISK per year? Seriously who considers that more than pocket change?) and mine in a compliant fashion knowing you are on the side of good guys, or you can declare yourself a rebel and be just another target for New Order agents. The choice is yours really. Either way the Code wins as it always does.

BULL

I WAS TALKING TO SOMEONE YESTERDAY WHO PAID FOR THE SO CALLED "MINING PERMIT"(DOES NOT EXIST) AND NEVER WILL THE DAY BEFORE AND WAS GANKED YESTERDAY WHILE MINING

SO YOU GUYS ARE FULL OF IT. ITS EXTORTION PLAIN AND SIMPLE

Actually the RP community will tell you that we are not proper role players because we don't follow their rules. Also unlike the 'real' RP crowd we don't just sit in the forums and make stuff up. As you can see from the op and many other dead miners in this post we actually PLAY the role IN THE GAME. With 'real' internet spaceships, antimatter, all that good stuff.

I would suggest a slightly different name for what we do. Let's call it elite-RP.
