Please include some actual information? Like, maybe a little?

No, seriously, I have no idea what you're talking about except that you feel there is an issue with the default overview setup and want it replaced with some arbitrary preset I've never heard of...

Zirio-Syundai Overview Pack, the replacement for the SaraShawa overview pack that is no longer maintained.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Ooooooor... how about a small (and brief) tutorial regarding the overview pop up when a newbie opens it up for the first time.

Overview packs are nice and all... but, just like giving a pre-fit ship, they won't teach a newbie anything.

That should make its way into the NPE even before shooting your first shot. Mine took 6 years to perfect then CCP deleted it..

Anyhow, that's why I wrote a guide for fitting ships that would bring you to the standards we know over time and experience.

You always sound nicer than I when I am hesitant to give out fits because I am not at the helm. The folks who know me is a different story since they can see what x fit on y ship does when I give it to them.

Pro-tip: you can copy your Overview into an EVE mail and mail yourself.

This is how I recover my overview each time an update "deletes" it. Or I have to reinstall everything.
I literally "update" what I have in my mailbox every 2 months.

And yeah... overviews should be something that newbies do... but it should not be forced on them.

I often do Q&A sessions with newbies in Arnon (or one of the rookie systems) and they tend to ask basic questions that the tutorials should have taught them.
The reason?
They skim through the tutorials.

I have found that when a newbie discovers a "need" to learn something they are MUCH more receptive and patient.

If you look through some of my posts you will find that I...

- err on the side of caution and give only the most basic of fits.
- give pointers on what they should be looking at if they wish to modify it.

This is not to say that newbies are stupid... but, in general, it is preferable to give more (and redundant) information than assume they already know.

Note: If working in a corporate environment has taught me anything... it is that people either don't ask questions or don't know what to ask because some basic concept went over their head.

Smile Since that patch I have my EVE settings in da cloud, including my fitting file and overview files. One for SiSi, one for TQ.

500KB that save a lot of hassle.

I have my in-game settings and overview backed up. The last time something ate my in-game settings I managed to find a backup and then started intentionally creating the buggers. Same for the overview export, though I keep having to tweak the overview as CCP ads new brackets... lol.

No, people are going to quit faster if the first thing they learn about is how to operate spreadsheets. It should be in the tutorial, but not at the beginning.

I somehow had got my moon brackets turned on, but then CCP deleted my overview. One issue I have with CCP that I don't have with other game development companies is CCP deletes your files.

That's because CCP actually lets you have files to start with, rather than third party Mods which break with every update instead.

That's a really good point.
