Hello everyone,

As everyone knows by now the Rifter is in a pretty bad place. I personally think that with some adjustments it can be a fun one frigate again that can compete with the other t1 frigates.
I think that the Rifter would get into a better place if the now, rather useless, utility highslot would get swapped to a low slot.
As of this moment the Rifter doesn't excel in anything, shield nor armor are actually competitive amongst the frigates. Since the Breacher and the Slasher already have the 4 midslots, I think it would be interesting to let the Rifter have a 4th lowslot to either get a bit more tank or a bit more dps which should be enough to get into a good enough shape that it would be fun and viable to be flown again.
Keeping the 3 turrets and 1 missile slot on 3 highslots would keep the minmatar fitting idea intact.

I really think that swapping the utility highslot to a lowslot will greatly benefit the Rifter while also creating a bit of an unique minmatar ship.

I don't fit utility items in that slot, I use it for a rocket launcher for more DPS.

CCP already fixed the Rifter when they gave it an overpowered falloff bonus (which shows an inability to see where the problem with small autocannons really lie) and now it's an excellent kiting ship.

It has never been bad. If you want the utility high moved down, fly a Breacher. I hate those things. I want a Breacher with 4 high slots.

Nobody cares, it's a minmatar boat.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!

The problem with the Rifter compared to its old version is that the old Rifter was completely ridiculous for a T1 frigate. It was one of the only T1 hulls that could go toe to toe with T2 and Faction frigates and stand a chance of winning. These days there's a pretty wide range of hulls that hit about that performance point, so the Rifter doesn't feel "special" anymore.

That doesn't mean that it's a bad ship though, and the last round of buffs were pretty nice to it.

We shouldn't be trying to get it back to that old kind of OP state where it's the only T1 Frig anyone wants to fly.

I fly the rifter a lot. I like using the hislot for nosferatu. It's when I fit an arty rifter that the last hislot becomes hard to use.

If I'm tackle then I don't much care what goes in the highs. I'll fit MWD, long point, MSE, damage control, signal amplifier, and nanofiber hull. High slots might be 150mm t1 autocannons with titanium sabot for getting on killmails, with a salvager if I have enough CPU left over. It's still a great ship for flying hero tackle as a noob in a big fleet. It's a bit overshadowed by the new tackler frigs, but its increased hit points and powergrid can help make up for the loss of scan res and velocity, and the capacitor is a minor issue. Still, you can use the tougher frigs great with a scrambler and web for hanging on to the target.
