This game is all about numbers so why not enhance that appeal by adding PVE stats? Giving players something to show off and work towards improving.

Who has the :

Most combat missions completed for each level.

Most courier missions completed.

Most containers cracked.

Most Ore/Ice mined.

Most LP earned in faction warfare.

What stats would you like to be able to see?

None of the above, and while we are at it we can remove kill mails and the kill boards that spawn from them all of them are a plague that haunts this game.

If you need to have goals to try and achieve may I suggest the use of google sheets. Not only can you set up goals and track your progress towards those goals but they can be freely shared with whoever you want to share them with.

If you want recognition for your achievements then get the hell out of that NPC corp and start one of your own, or join one of the thousands that exist they can award you medals and other worthless items as well as noting your accomplishments on the in game corp bulletin board so others can be impressed.

In the end the important thing here is simply this. If you are playing EvE to have your ego stroked by the game for things you accomplish in game then you are most definitely playing the wrong game.

Also posting the same thing in multiple areas of the forums is a really bad idea Mission Stats

Donnachadh,

I think you're very level headed and most of the time I agree with your viewpoints. However this time I think you're a bit over the top. Whatever Corp the player is in doesn't mean a damn thing. I don't see the relevance of saying get out of NPC Corp. In fact I find that statement rather offensive, especially since I'm in an NPC Corp and I'm Eve Famous as well.

Nothing wrong with keeping track of accomplishments in-game, most players do it to complete various goals which usually inspires them to create even more goals to complete. Hell, for a time I kept track of all my Exploration stats such as amount and type of sigs completed along with the amount of Commander NPC's destroyed.

While working on 'The Plan' I kept track of all Event Agents and their missions, how to complete them, what ship to use, standing rewards, etc. I even had a lot of players tell me that was a waste of time. Course that info was later used to edit, update and or create guides for other players to use.

By the way, I agree with your sentiment towards Killmails and Killboards. They are definitely a plague on this game. As for the OP's idea, I don't like it at all. Having stats that keep track of players who have done the most missions, mined the most Ore, gained the most LP, etc, would be an unnecessary drain of game resources. Not to mention it would more than likely place a bull-eyes target on the names of high ranking players.

But hey, at least it's good the OP is thinking about the game, right ? Also the OP may not realize there's a rule against posting the same topic in various sub-forums. I suggest mentioning that fact to the OP one time and then if it continues, just report it and be done with it.

Your case and that of the OP are as different as night and day. You made your fame by contributing your time and efforts to help create the standing repair plan which benefits everyone in the game and you rightly deserve the fame you have achieved. The OP on the other hand wants CCP to create a series of goals, to track your progress towards those goals and then to have the game give you recognition and awards for achieving those goals and I am against that.
1. we do not need the devs at CCP wasting time creating a goals and awards program when there are so many other things of greater importance on the have not been done yet list.
2. the wide range of possible play styles and the mind boggling array of goals and awards that CCP would have to create make the whole idea a pointless exercise in wasted time and code bloat.
3. with the ability to create goals and medals for anything and everything you can possibly think of and the ability to acknowledge those who meet these goals on the corp bulletin board or with a can anchored in space the player corp is the proper place for this type of goal based awards.

I have no problem with CCP giving us a stripped down in game spread sheet or other system to allow individual players, or player corps the ability to track such things and I would welcome such a tool. Where I draw the line is at having the game keep track of them for you.

Thank you for making my point, the game auto tracking this information would likely have left you with huge gaps in the information needed to set up the plan, yet an in-game system like a spread sheet that allows you to record what you want and in the way you want would likely have been a big help and time saver.

You are right it is good that new players are thinking about the game and I am glad to see them post their ideas here, tehy just need to understand that those of us in the game will respond with our own thoughts on those ideas.

As far as mentioning it once I did, just once in each topic because I cannot be sure that the OP will see it if I post it in just one topic and I cannot be sure they would read it if I sent it as an in game email. AS far as reporting such things I am not likely to do that unless it continues for an extended period of time.
