5% of a module's PG is usually less than the total PG of the ship. The squire yields more raw PG. I use Squires.

That's nice. Want a cookie for that?

That is also entirely your choice. Some people choose the cheaper option when the more expensive one is overkill.

I was just saying. lol

There are a large number of implants that are objectively useless. SU- is just one of them.

Various people will cite the nominal Jita cost, but those prices are rarely reliable because the implants in question are rarely if ever obtained from the source (LP stores at 250,000 LP + 250,000,000 ISK for the SU-603).

They obviously don't sell for anything like that price, so the few that ever appear are (I presume) either drops or mission rewards from somewhere.

the 3% and I think 5% versions can drop in missions and are storyline rewards so there is some supply that has nothing to do with the LP store cost. A bunch of the 3% implants can be bought very cheaply as the supply is much greater than the demand, however there are some that are much more desirable and trade near their LP store cost. I think the price you quote would be for the 6% implant from the Concord LP store, the 3% should be roughly 10m + 10k lp, and the 5% is 79m + 79k lp widely available from many empire lp stores.

You want a really bad implant, look at the mid-grade ascendancy omega. Even with 5 mid-grades plugged in slots 1-5, the omega is worse than a WS-610 for 1/10th the price. Or you can still pay 70m less, get a WS-615, and go even faster.

One increases PG, the other reduces the PG requirement.

I suppose that, if your doing some fitting magic, there might be occasions where increasing PG might provided less PG that reducing requirements.

Imagine a frigate that has 27 PG, but you have a Shield Upgrade that needs 30. 5% extra PG gives you a measly 1.35 PG but reducing the PG need of the module by 3 PG (5% implant + 5% skill reduction) makes the fit possible.

Of course this is advanced fitting magic and I for the life of me can't do anything but netdecking fits from dubious sources.

Except for those implants are part of the same tiered set.

The implants I mentioned are supposed to be of equal rank.

They are 5% Implants. That has nothing to do with price, or how useful it is over all.

Anyone remember when we used to have ice mining rigs and such for small/large hull? Eve has lots of items that are if not useless, are very niche usecase. Just as there are skills that training over X level yields no benefit, hell there's at least one skill in Eve that is flat out useless and offers no benefits. Part of Eve is figuring it out for yourself.

Now that you mention it, with the Endurance we could use ice mining rigs for small hulls again.

I for one sure am happy that this niche implant enable me to use all of them fit with no other module except that one shield extender because I have no PG left for anything once it is fit.
