I was wondering if there was any way to change the photo for my character? or even change my characters look.

In station, go to the Captain's Quarters and look for a mirror. Double clicking on the mirror brings up the character where you can change some things about the character (clothes and hairstyle I believe).

Or even easier, go to the t-shirt icon on your station services. It will open the character creation mode.

You cannot change your avatar's face or skin colour, but you can choose a new hair style and colour, tattoos and jewellery. You can change clothing.

If you have cosmetic items like the Christmas hats, or have bought such items, they must be in the same station to use them. If they are in your hangar, they will show up to the left of the selection lists.

Once you get the avatar dressed in the way you wish, you go to the portrait screen and set your portrait look just as before, including changing the background.

Additionally, if you're unhappy with how your character looks (facial structure, complexion, etc) it's possible to purchase a resculpt token either in the Aurum store or in the in-game market. With a token, you get one-time access to the full range of customization options that you had on initial character creation.
