That's an interesting assumption. Is it cruel to free people from the shackles of obligatory gift-giving? See, when I buy something for someone, it's because I found something they might really like. I don't need some tradition to tell me when I should do that, and frankly, if people are only doing stuff for other people just because it's Christmas, and they feel obligated to visit and share a meal with people they may not really like, that seems like a much greater cruelty to me. I know that if I had kids, Christmas wouldn't be the one time of the year that I stopped to give a **** about them.

The 'divorcee' comment is obviously a snipe and completely irrelevant, so we'll ignore it for the banal trolling that it is. Now, did you have a bad joke to tell or were you just here to get mad at me for not conforming to your social expectations of me?

Meh, it's just another day to me personally. If I'm going to celebrate something, it needs to be something worthwhile, like if a mate gets a new job or winning the lotto, not just the northern hemisphere's winter solstice. And if I'm going to buy stuff for people, it's going to be because I found something nice they might like, not because the commercials on TV obligate me to because it's the time of the year to do so.

Brilliant! You're posting a "War on Christmas" meta-joke in a joke thread. By posting a "War on Christmas" comment, you're continuing the joke theme by implicitly stating that there is no war on Christmas!
