So I am back to the game after a year, I used to manufacture in my own POS, but no longer have one. I believe I can manufacture in these new public citadels, the ones with the low tax rate. What are the pros / cons of manufacturing in these. Or are they not viable.

Bonuses are rig dependent - you don't simply get a flat 2%ME, 25%TE like a POS. Since there are a limited number of rig slots, structures are specialized. Use the facilities tab in the industry tool to check for bonuses for the type of production you are interested in. Also watch out for the system cost index - red line under the service, this will determine your job cost.

For manufacturing, you will be looking for an Engineering Complex. Factories and labs can be fit to a Citadel but they receive no bonuses - same as working in a station.

If the structure is destroyed, your BPO's and anything in your hangars is protected by asset safety. Work in progress (except BPO's) will be lost.
