As the title says... I thinking of returning after many many years away as my RL situation has changed and found myself with more free time.

My main is sitting on a good pile ISK and a nice stock of ships with all the trimmings... they used to be good however I ain't too sure now; so I have a two questions before I hit the sub button.

1) Will I get a SP boost when I return? i'm only on 32 mil?
2) Are there any decent corps / alliances that take on resurrected pilots to teach them how to play again?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Regards

1a. Nope. There used to be a training speed boost for new characters, but that was removed when new characters were given more starting skills.

Other things to consider:
- You can increase your skillpoints buy buying a skill booster from the in-game market. Basically, the DEVs developed a way for players to literally extract their skillpoints, stuff them in a little "pill," and sell them to other players.
And before you start thinking about extracting all your skillpoints and reapplying them in certain areas, do note that there are "penalties" involved (see: some skillpoints will be "lost" when extracting them... ex: extracting 5 million SP will result in a loss of X% of those skillpoints from the total pool).

- attribute implants (bought from Loyalty Point stores and the market in-game) can increase your training speed, but note that these are considered "luxury items" and will only decrease your training time by, at most, about a month over the course of a year.

- just because you do not have "max skills" in a certain area, it does not mean you are "useless." Go out and try what you want regardless. You will be surprised by how far you get.

2a. Check out the Alliance & Corporation Recruitment sub-forum.
Alternatively... you can go out, roam the stars, and talk with people. You may find a smaller group that is willing to take you in (provided you show a good attitude and "moxy")

No problem. Feel free to ask any questions here... even the dumb ones (especially the dumb ones). ;-)

EVE University is great.

They take on new players aswell as returning players.

Things to consider:
- They have a bit of heavy application process.
- They are almost all of the time under wardec.

Things you will get in return:
- Classes covering almost all topics of the game from basics to advanced. Most of the time professional lecturers who give online presentation and also sometimes include powerpoints and practical sessions where you fly out.
- PVP and PVE events. Low and nullsec roams. POS defence. It's very own incursion community.
- Campuses located in neutral highsec, lowsec and nullsec stations.
- Standing fleets that roam PVP space helping eachother out if something happens in the vincinity of the campuses.
- Help channels
- "Buddy system" where you can get buddied up with an experienced player.

EVE University has been helping players for ages and they cover most aspects of EVE Online.
