I can accept that even maxed out an alpha can't compete with an omega toe to toe. I can accept that we are gimped with what ships we can fly, modules we can use, skills we can use etc.

However this 1/2 speed skill nerf is killing me as far as enjoyment goes. I'm really not willing to wait around 2 weeks to be halfway competent in any one skill tree. 6 months to be "maxed out" Just. No.

It.s not 1/2 speed... it's NORMAL speed.

Omegas get x2 training speed because they pay....... Yes, it is just advertising semantics, but why should F2P players get the same privs as those who sub?

Or Skill Injectors.

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

The OP is correct that Alphas train SP at half speed. It is half speed because before Alphas existed the normal training speed was double what Alphas currently get. When Alphas were introduced they were given HALF the training speed of an Omega. CCP try to make it look different by writing "x2" next to the Omega skill queue but it is a lie, Omegas train at the same rate they always did.

Now that that's sorted out, i still think OP needs to stop whining and sub if he wants to play the full game. Alphas are supposed to be gimped, welcome to the real world buttercup.

And you good sir need to learn to read what is written...

I did point out that the x2 training speed is advertising semantics....

But still, very much agree people need to stop whining in regards to alpha restrictions, it is getting very tedious.

I had alts with a 2+ year skill plan. I've restarted quite a few times resulting in playing a lot on low SP characters, works fine. Stop whining or stop playing, it has nothing to do with "enjoyment", it has to do with entitlement.

I have no issue with buying a subscription to be equivalent with omegas...as my first 2 sentences attest. My issue is that I can't even skill up enough to be anything but a floating target. I have yet to be killed in pvp so don't think this is a ragequit post of any sort. I'm just having a hard time doing anything without the skills required to do it.

You can't just go buy injectors if you don't have the isk. To earn the isk you need the skills. That goes for any occupation in the game besides begging.

This sort of attitude is not encouraging anyone to stick around. Want alpha's to stick around? Throw us a bone.

They already have....

They introduced F2P to a wave of immense ingratitude.

Yes there are restrictions, otherwise why would anyone sub?

I was surprised when they said alphas would accumulate SP. I thought it would be a frozen SP thing, with no reduced abilities so I guess I believe there's a better way. But the SP accumulation was always part of the deal. Skill injectors are a thing too. I would've paid out of pocket for injectors when I started out so I think this might be a case of having different attitudes.

I was also brought into the game by players who did it the hard way, so I never knew any different. Maybe older players never ran into this issue because it was never an option, there was only one subscription mode.

I don't really have a problem with 6 million SP characters reaching that point faster. I wouldn't question alphas training at normal speed. You get what, racial frigates and destroyers and support skills to 4? I don't even know. I should probably check.

Like I said, I'm fine with restrictions. You mention "immense ingratitude" but I have seen very little of that expressed by any new players. However, what exactly am I supposed to be grateful for? The ability to fly around and look at the shiny ships?

The simple answer is "logging in," because that was the biggest change. It used to be that if your sub ran out, you couldn't play and you couldn't even post on the forums.

It's a fair question, and if the game is worth playing we should be able to answer it. What are you supposed to think is worth logging in over.

I think the main thing is the interaction. It's really easy to miss out on EVE's best selling point, which is small and large group gameplay. Without it you're very likely to wonder what's worth paying for.

Immense ingratitude =The near constant stream of poor Alphas need more for free threads.

What you should be grateful for is the ability to fly some of those shiny ships, upto T1 Cruiser of your race and the gnosis!
Sounds very much like your issue is that people have shinier ships because they pay for the game. That may not be the case (ship envy is a terrible thing! Just remember size isn't everything... It's what you do with it that counts), I hope it's not, you keep saying you have no issue with restrictions, so why are you posting with issues on restrictions?

Personally, I think CCP should get rid of the half training speed, but keep the cap. I have played EvE for years so I had to deal with learning skills e.t.c.

However whats the point in trying a game at half speed. I will say, If I were new it would put me off alittle.

I have some alpha accounts & I can tell you that I would like to sub. Its like having a goal & subbing is the endgame in that section. You want people to try the game for what it is, then let them try it. Also people finding out your lying about giving omegas x2 speed, doesn't give you good rep.

However EvE is still the best game out there.

Hey Helix Coils, how many hours have you played so far? What have you tried out in the game

I think this is an understandable reaction to playing EVE for most people, and I'm just curious what you think about what you've experienced.

Did you try to do something specific that you couldn't complete due to ship skills?
