What's the purpose for apparel in New Eden Shop?

For game without actual need for having full body avatar and with so much apparel in New Eden Shop,
I must say that CCP spends fair amount of resources into creating new apparel.

If clothes are only for bragging or self admiring in the mirror,
I must say that I'm really disappointed.

I chatted with many new players in local and most of them shared similar feeling about this.

I've read few posts about WiS and I wonder will it ever be implemented?

If you had really read up on it, you'd know the answer to that question.

apparel lets you customize your characters.. I think that makes the game a bit more immersive..

I wish there was a much better selection of apparel

Walking in the station could be very cool

I don't actually think so. Slapping a few textures on an already existent T-Shirt Model and modelling a Baseball Cap takes one person an hour, if that.

Yes, the technology that allows us to have T-Shirts and Baseball Caps probably took some time to make, and that's time that could have been spent better, but now that it is there, why would they not sell a couple of easy to make pixel clothes and make some money off of it? Apparently people are buying the stuff, so it's all good.

Apparel makes me play the game.

It also keeps artists employed.

It makes me spend more money then anyone should.

But also I really want to say Google it.

It's something that we can spend money on that does not affect the game at all.

As opposed to "pay to win."

So, other games have clothes/outfits too. Why not EVE.

Besides, people can right-click your name and Show Info, then click your picture to view your full outfit, see how poorly dressed you are. So trust me, we know.

I'm sure it takes CCP little time to actually design half of the outfits available on EVE store
And if it helps keep subscription fees lower or developers and artists employed at CCP then all power to them.

Personally I don't like spending actual money on apparel, but some people obviously do and thats cool. Some look good for it.

You have a point, Op...

However, much is involved with the issue.

Look into it more.

Dennis Rodman is not just "that rebounding guy"
He is Dennis Rodman.
Why?

without new apparel there wouldn't be a screenshots gallery in Steam leading people to believe there is avatar gameplay in EVE. http://steamcommunity.com/app/8500/screenshots/

Because of same reason why you aren't just "that EvE player"
You are Wanda Fayne

With one small difference: Denis Rodman is able to open doors. Big smile

Every little bit of customization lets people create some uniqueness. From the character creator you get so many possible combinations, with accessories that multiplies. With clothing and a little portrait work you can also create a unified style for a group.

Seems like something worth spending a little time (and a little wealth) for.

But to each their own.

edit.
I'd only open that door if there were others to interact with within.

I'm cool with that. Does it count as personal attacks if it's RP

Even though there isn't any avatar gameplay (yet?), that we can wear different apparel means we can present an image to those who wish to look.
(Probably time for a change)
